Kappy was the only good part of that Kessel trade for the Leafs. Though I do miss Tyler Biggs, lol

I personally only think Kapanen is worth a 2nd round pick. Not a first. But if you want to pay the first, then go ahead.

Ritich is horrible. Murray had a bad year and his stats were still comparable to Ritich. Murray would be the best goaltender this franchise has had since Kiprusof

If Barclay Goodrow got a first than Kappy will too. This trade i what I think A Kap trade would look like.

Matt Murray career .914 save percentage despite having a terrible year
Ritich career .908 save percentage

Not even gonna mention playoff success for Matt Murray. The two goalies aren’t even comparable. Matt Murray had a bad year. Ritich is just a bad goalie. People are forgetting Murray put up a .919 save percentage just last season.

Ya and Tampa overpayed on that deal. In my opinion Kapanen is only worth a 2nd.

Rittich had a 907 save percentage
Murray had a .899 save percentage

Rittichs career average is .908 if you knew anything about hockey you’d know rittich is a god goalie who was miles ahead of Murray this season

Rittich is an NHL sophomore and rookie starter. You are right they arent comparable due to exposure and available data. To call him an awful goalie is a massive jump to conclusion, then to say "oh Murray just had a bad year" is biased.

David Ritich hasn’t proven anything yet. His best season was 45 games and a .911 save percentage. Murray has much more pedigree and value

Exactly my point lol. Ritich CAREER average is .908. This season he was a .907. By Ritich standards, he had a pretty good year. In reality, a .907 save percentage isn’t very good. Murray is a career average of .914. This year he was horrible with a .899. By Murray’s standards, he struggled and is capable of much better play. Murray is light years ahead of Ritich. He just absolutely sucked this year.

So your saying 907 is comparable to 899 and 914 is light years ahead of 907. (907 is closer to 914 than 899)

Ok and? That doesnt justify him being worth a 1st in a stacked draft. Calgary could sign Holtby (who has the same pedigree as Murray), sign Lehner, trade for Georgiev, or stick with their current tandem and not worry about expansion then still keep their top 20 pick. No team is giving Pittsburgh a 2020 1st for Murray with a flooded goalie market and Seattle next year no matter how much you manipulate the numbers. Especially after the garbage season he just had

im saying .899 is horrible and .907 isn't very good. Both seasons were bad. Murray sucked more but they both weren't very good. But once again to reiterate, Murray based on his career average SHOULD do much better than a .899. This year was out of the ordinary for Murray. But it was a pretty typical year for Rittich

then pens will gladly keep Murray. They wont sell low on him unless he absolutely sucks in the play-in vs MTL.

How can you call it a typical year when its his first year as a starter. There isnt enough data to back up that point.

hes played 115 games. thats a big enough sample size to know what kind of goalie you're getting.

Matt Murrays career avg save% is 91.4%
Rittich is 90.8%
Theyre about the same and certainly not worth a first and middle 6 forward to upgrade

I don't see TOR moving Kapanen.

Johnsson yes. They had depth on the LW, they don't on the RW. They move out Kap, they no one to come play the 3RW.
