DET would probably prefer to keep Mantha.

How does this benefit Detroit? Reilly Smith is 29 years old Mantha will be 26 on September 16th Hague would be a nice piece for a LD prospect big kid at 6'6. But Detroit would easily decline that offer.

Yzerman would want Tuch for Mantha they're pretty similar players both height wise and scoring wise. Tuch is 24 years old and fits our rebuild more then a 29 year old Reilly Smith.

If you switch Reilly to Tuch they probably accept

Vegas and Detroit trade seems like fans from both sides don't like it.

What's your take?

My mentality with Smith is that he can be a merger player that is easily flipped at the deadline for picks

Ya this deal as is doesn't really work for DET. I love Smith, think he's one of the most underrated players in the league, but that first doesn't guarantee to be better than Mantha, Smith is 29 and does Hague move the needle for this team?...no.

hague would immediately be your #1 LD prospect... i'd say he's better than johansson, mcissac and cholowski long term

Have you heard of Moritz Seider....lol. Who cares what side he's on. Also what if they draft Drysdale?

Point is Hague isn't worth Mantha, even with that mid-1st. No deal.

drysdale is a RD also... side matters with defense... you can have a great right side and a bad left side, but the bad side brings everyone down.

consider the rangers and how bad their left side was this year... if their lines were balanced they could have an elite back end

I think Smith is too old to make it work. You can flip him at the deadline isn't a selling point the last couple of seasons players just aren't bringing in the kind of returns they once did.

he has term though, which i think is a changing point. Big returns didn't happen this year due to the skill level of this draft

Ya side matters but you're assuming LH play left and RH play right. Either way the most valuable piece here is the 1st and I don't think it's worth Mantha. Definitely not a bad offer considering most of the garbage that is proposed on this site but I'd be upset if SY pulled the trigger on it.

True but the returns aren't going to get much better until the new TV deal is in place. We probably aren't going to see a substantial cap increase for the next 2 seasons. I also think that is when the NHL is back to their normal schedule. The next couple of seasons are going to be a little crazy.
