Exactly. This is a classic Glen Sather deal.

No wonder why he’s out now. John Davidson and Jeff Gorton have their heads on straight I hope.

TBD

- the real test for Davidson will he whether or not Ruff is back for the start of next year - if he is Rangers are pretty screwed.

-Gorton’s been pretty rough in terms of moves he’s had to make: Holding Fast and Kreider were obvious missteps. So was the Trouba contract. Doesn’t get too much credit for Fox or Panarin because both literally forced their ways to NY. Real legitimate test will be how he handles Strome and Deangelo. If Deangelo is gone or Strome is still here at the start of next season, Rangers are pretty screwed.

I think Rangers let fast walk and trade Strome? Or do the rangers want to trade DeAngelo since they have Fox, Trouba, and Lundqvist kid?

Let Fast walk, Trade Strome, deal Trouba and extend Deangelo long term is the correct answer.

Can the Hawks or Ducks offer anything of interest?

Agreed on most (especially on Ruff) BUT extending Kreids was the move to make... the contract has one year that will be painful but still he brings so much to the team, building a contender means keeping part of you team...

Who plays D and kills penalties if Trouba gets moved tho, apart from Lindgren/Fox? Do tou believe Miller’s ready for 18 minutes per game including PK? Which D-man would you target?

TBH I think you guys are giving up on him too quick. Ducks accept. We could use him to chew up those top minutes and we can get his value higher possibly

It's really just about Trouba's role not being right in NY. In Anaheim he'd be the #1 option on the right side without much competition. On the Rangers he's the 3rd best RHD. So in the next couple years when we have to pay Fox, Shestyerkin, etc Trouba's cap hit is going to be unnecessary. But for a team like Anaheim that could use a solid 2way defensive option during their rebuild, it makes a lot more sense.

Rangers have bailed on long term deals before NTC's hit before. They did it with Stepan and Brassard.

True. We definitely accept that tho. Max Jones is looking worse as days go by.

I love Kreids but I don't agree. I think his value is primarily tied up in his speed. And once that starts to go even a little, his on-ice value is going to drop pretty quickly. I’m not sure what kinda offers Gorton was getting, but you’d have to think it would be at least what guys like Coleman and Zucker got. And I’d take that in a heartbeat.

Yeah it’s tough with the Ducks system. I like Terry, but I don’t think he’s strong enough physically to play the aggressive forecheck style that Quinn likes to play. And I figure Steel/Comtois are off the table. I think Jones has a good combination of speed and size that would do well in New York. I gotta watch more of him but I like his puck protection skills, it just seems like he needs someone that’s going to feed him pucks. Seems like he’s always had to create his own offense in Anaheim (Steel and Kase aren’t exactly great passers)

In acquiring guys like Lemieux and Gauthier at the deadline the last 2 years it seems like they tend to like guys with size who can skate well, forecheck relentlessly and generate shots without much help. That seems to be Jones’ profile.

Allow me go disagree. When Staal and Hank are gone he’ll be the very last Ranger who was there during our last SC window, that experience will be so important, because he’ll teach the youth how to behave in big moments. Also he is very hardworking, brings leadership and is overall a big part of the team at every level. Keeping him was the choice to make.

Gotta understand here that if we mved him for, say, Kyrou and a 1st, those 2 pieces would’ve entered their prime in 2-3 years in the case of Kyrou and in 5-6 years in the case of the player we would’ve drafted, where as Kreids can help us win games now...

hawks accept, but the rangers shouldn't do it. Would be interesting though because I think the Rangers are one of the very few teams that Kane might waive to go to (Panarin reuinion). Most likley Kane wouldn't waive though. Toews and Kane have been very outspoken on wanting their entire career in Chicago

Yeah you tend to see this kind of trade and trades for Lindholm and Hertl from some Ranger fans. It shows a lack of patience in the rebuild and gets written off pretty quickly.

Also, Girardi was good when he did what he was best at. He became a pylon in 2015-16
