Would you rather a top line guaranteed 30+ goal scorer on a cost controlled contract or a #3 defenceman? I know what I'd choose lol. Laf will not come close to Guentzels 2018-2019 season.. and this season he was on a 90pt pace over 82pg... I'd bet my life Laf doesn't sniff that

Lafreniere would have the same luxury that Guentzel has benefited from. He gets to play with one of the best centres of all time in Crosby. Safe to say he’d pot 30.

Laf a guarenteed 40 goal scorer, ppg player and really solid defensively?

u know ure comparing a 18 year old to a 25 year old right?

but no.. but u can argue that to any player back then when they weren't drafted yet.. even somebody like Mcdavid

its going to take WAY more than Guentzel to get the 1st overall, whether u admit it or not
hes going to be way better

Bud are you possibly drunk? We are not trading Jake Guentzel. End of story.

Pens lose both trades, especially the Jake one. Extremely hard pass

2 things. Flames definitely take that trade, it will not be offered. Valimaki is expansion exempt if he doesn't play this year and Calgary very likely isn't protecting Gio at age 38 with 1 year left on his contract

76 last year and over a ppg this year before getting injured all while being a good defensive forward

First of all, I want to say the Guentzel trade is dumb. With his excellent contract, age & pedigree, the Penguins have no reason to trade him under any circumstance.

Second, who’d y’all think has the higher ceiling between Jake Guentzel & Alexis Lafreniere?

so u r comparing a player who took till 25 years old to get over ppg on Crosby's wing to one of the best players to ever get drafted in the past decade? a border line generational player who even gets compared at times to Crosby?

... there r better ways to go bud.......

okay laf is clear cut gonna be way better than Jake, but he's not at the Sid/McDavid level

I think Alexis Lafreniere’s potential is to be at Patrick Kane / Nathan MacKinnon’s level. He’s a franchise talent & a very complete player. Probably the best forward prospect since McDavid.

Lafreniere isn’t generational, he’s franchise. Still, it’s ridiculous that some of these Pens fans think his ceiling is not as good as an elite player. He could become a bust, but if he pans out, he’ll be one of the top 4 or 5 forwards in the game.

Never said hes generational.. hes closer than most but not there, the level of McDavid and Crosby only comes once a decade or so

Lafreniere without a doubt. Its kinda like asking in 2015 who has the higher ceiling between McDavid and Kopitar

No, I'm saying next year I'd rather have Jake.. Obviously Laf ceiling >>> Jake, I'm not debating that. But to expect Laf to put up 30-40 goals next year and produce like Jake, I doubt it happens in his rookie year

Laf definitely has more upside but theres a chance he doesn't hit it. Guentzel brings a lot more than just points too and Pens are trying to win now. Even if they drafted Laf theres zero chance they would trade Guentzel

Both of these trades are just ridiculous. PIT has a good top-4 and we're not trading one of the best value LW in the game for a #3D. Guentzel is incredible and has proved he isn't riding Sid and Geno's coattails. He's an elite goal scorer in this league.
