That's a terrible deal for Colorado. Benning is a replacement level defenseman coming off a $1.9m caphit in his last RFA year. He'd be an overpaid 7D in Colorado. We'd actually be doing Edmonton a favour trading anything of value for him, let alone a young 3rd liner with 2C upside. The 3rd rounder doesn't even come close to balancing the difference in value between Jost and Benning, particularly as it isn't even a 2020 pick.

That said I do think Jost would be a good fit in Edmonton. You're going to have to offer something more substantial if you want him though.

A good return would be a 2nd + prospect, but you don't have 2nd rounders. Maybe one of your top 5 prospects + 3rd would work. Bouchard and Broberg are probably off the table, but how about including one of the next bunch of players (eg. Samorukov, Benson, Lavoie)? Note that I'm not particularly interested in Puljujarvi; Avs just aren't the team that needs to take risks on reclamations and we can't give him top 6 minutes.

I don’t like this. Kapanen in my eyes is worth a 2nd (not a future 2nd pairing defence man in Bear), there’s no way Patrick is with Puljujarvi, and AA. I think I would honestly rather Mittelstadt for Puljujarvi. I honestly don’t really know Carrier, and Jost’s value and how good they are all too much, so if someone could tell me that would be great! Did you forget to move the cap up? There’s no way in 21-22 the cap is still going to be at 81.5M

kapenan is not worth a 2nd. He can easily grab a low 1st. Kapenan is a right wing many competing teams would love to have, hes fast, good with the puck, and can achieve 40+ points in a 3rd line role. Just picture him in the top 6. Easily could achieve 50 points and on 3.2 mill thats a steal. Teams who want a fast defensive wing on their PK would love to have him. Bear had 1 good season. Sure hes 1 year younger but whats the guarantee he does it again. He may just be playing well to get a big contract then he could flop the next year once he gets his money. In general the leafs are taking more of a risk than Edmonton as Edmonton has Bouchard who could easily take bears place, but for Toronto none of our RW come close to Kap. So in general deals fair would even suggest taking out Khaira to make it a simple 1 for 1.

As much as kapenen would ball out with mcdavid, there just isn't anyone to replace bear's minutes
Isn't patrick's career done?
Colorado says no, they have enough RHD
Rather have archibald over carrier

Philly declines, I think they take the chance on Patrick and let him take 3C behind Coots and Hayes to develop. Hoping his migraines go away and he gets a chance.
