No it doesn't. Matthews had the edge over Eichel and Nylander is better than Rinehart and a 2nd doesn't make up the difference. If would be Eichel and maybe a 2nd for Matthews. End of discussion

Eichel is better, is signed longer and makes less money

I understand not wanting to trade matthews, but if eichel is traded to toronto, this is the value.

No it isn't, you are bias and everyone outside of Buffalo and Leaf haters says Matthews is better.

Compare their rookie seasons. TO was coming off finishing last in the league and Matthews had a better rookie year than Eichel had in his rookie season. Year 2 Matthews has better numbers, same with year 3 and year 4. Matthews is better, its just clear. That doesn't take anything away from Eichel, he's an incredible player and shouldn't make you upset, its just a fact. Just like McDavid is better than Matthews, it doesn't take anything away from Matthews. (They are a lot closer than most seem to understand but that is a different debate)

This isn't fair. For the purpose of the thread lets just say Eichel and Matthews are even, even though Matthews is better

Eichel = Matthews
Nylander >>>> Reinhart and a second

Sorry a second doesn't make up the difference between rienhart and Nylander

reinhart and nylander have put up remarkably similiar statistics and were drafted in the same year.

This trade obviously will never happen.

Just sick of seeing the nonsense proposed for eichel.

Agreed, most of the trades aren’t even reasonable at all.

Accept Reinhart took a step back since last year. Nylander took a step forward

reinhart went from .79 ppg to .72 ppg while scoring the same amount of goals in 13 less games and improving other aspects of his game. i hardly call that taking a step back.

yadda yadda yadda, significantly better goal scorer, doesnt rely near as much on 2nd assists, better defensivly, less ice time, less power play time.
Matthews is still better

Nylander has scored at a 0.72 PPG pace and again keep in mind he didn't get the same opportunities as he should have under Bab's. Never got 1st PP unit time, often was put on the 3rd line for some reason. Benched for being Swedish I guess. Reinhart meanwhile has scored at 0.64 PPG over the same timeframe. Those are not remarkably similar, one is a fair degree better and one of them was trending towards a point a game player once Keefe took over the reigns.

Attacking Leaf fans for nonsense proposals seems odd, considering the schere volume of McDavid costs Matthews and Marner and the Leafs have to take on 2 cap dumps as well. I agree with you that pretty much every Eichel trade on here is stupid. Welcome to the club, almost every trade proposed for one of the Leaf stars is also stupid. "Marner's contract means he's hard to move" That is just nonsense.

it's especially funny in that most of the terrible eichel trades have been from other fan bases, like all the worst ones are from a Habs fan or Jets fan or something but "gotta take it out on leafs fans" seems to be the direction every single one of these 'revenge' proposals go in.

Remember when every single fan base kept trying to trade for him saying he was just a 60 point winger? Offering up some old guy who was in fact a 60 point winger or literally any defenceman who was right handed? Now people are saying he's worth more than that garbage but are still criticizing Leaf fans for not wanting to give him up.

"Can I have Nylander? I will offer you a terrible package in return because I am hoping the controversy surrounding his holdout will artificially lower his value to the point of me obtaining him for pennies on the dollar? Oh you say no? Nuts"

Fastforward to this year

"Here is a better package for Nylander who I wanted to get for a steal because I saw the potential in his game but downplayed it in the hopes of obtaining him for pennies on the dollar, now I will offer about 2/3rds the value and still say he's only marginally better than what I said before. Why? Because I am hoping I can somehow convince people that his contract needs to move for some older defenceman who is right handed because everyone says the Leafs are desperate for right handed defenceman so Can I have him for cheap now? No still?"

"Leaf fans are stupid for not wanting to trade Nylander for substandard packages that I am okay with giving up because I am certain it will be a huge win for my team."

im a bruins fan, ide rather matthews and nylander. I think without an elite center reinhart isnt productive. I think nylander at least can be. I know team makeup makes things a little different here how toronto is an offensive machine and buffalo just oof. Eichel is more the playmaker type, create the play. great to have if your team is lacking that type of player, if you have a bunch of finishers and no setup guy. On the flipside Matthews is the finisher. great to have as your 1c because you can get lesser quality players to be playmakers.

Weren't you one of the guys that thought McDavid, Neal and Russell for Matthews and Marner was fair? If so you have zero right to say anything about fair trades.

Playmaker/setups > Sniper/finishing but that's for me and the latter has more value

Okay. The counter I saw was Matthews and Marner for McDavid. That also is ridiculous since those two out perform McDavid by himself. There are very few trades on this site that are fair, personally bias is usually crazy slanted. Just look at the response when I suggest trading Johnsson for a 2nd and some longer term prospect. People literally get mad and say Johnsson is a cap dump who hasn't ever done anything. Which is just stupid but it's the way of this site, no one posts a trade they don't think they are winning and usually they are winning huge.

I prefer players that are patrice bergeron, guy that have complete games. Can play offense and put up 30 goals, can play excellent defense, can pass the puck, can stick handle. pp, pk, etc.
