Realistic 2021-22 Jets

Description
Not sure how much the cap would go up but I left enough room for adjustments. I honestly don't see anything huge coming from Chevy. I think we might be paying too much for Cernak, but after that move the Jets blueline would be really solid for the next 5 years. I don't think laine is going to get 10m+. I think he'll end up around 9.75-10. Pionk shouldn't be paid more than morrissey, it's also likely he gets less term, so I just gave him the good ol 6x6. When he needs a new deal he'll only have 2 solid seasons under his belt so it's a risky move.

I figured that the Jets want to win now during the Wheeler/Scheifele window so I tried to make realistic moves to give them the best chance I could. Finding a 2C through trade / draft would be hard so I went the UFA route and gave Haula a chance back in the 2020-21 season.

It's likely that the Jets trade a piece like Chisholm or Stanley to Seattle to keep them off of Berdin or a few other guys. Whoever they'd pick after the trade which would be a less important piece, can be replaced by a UFA.

I don't know if Tampa does this. They would want a future RH top 4 defense man coming back. But maybe

Haula is definitely getting more money as he is the only decent center available

    Expansion draft?

I mentioned expansion draft just briefly, Jets would have to move a prospect like Stanley to Seattle to keep them off or Berdin, so I just said whoever Seattle takes which would be a non important piece, would get replaced by a UFA. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see the Jets resign Lowry and leave him unprotected and trade Stanley to get them to take him.

Yeah I figured that trade might have to be played around with.

You basically have two top pairs lol, but I get what you’re saying. I don’t think Pionk gets 6m but I was playing on the higher side for him. Like I mentioned he only will have had 2 good seasons and probably won’t get 6m, but I think he’ll be at 5m at least.

Could consider Nuge with that cap space (and slight adjustments to other contracts)

He'll get 6+ minimum with this lineup He'll be anchoring the number one pp again next season so on pace for 50 points and on the verge of setting the franchise record for points on the pp by a dman and likely pass it next season. He's underrated by his undrafted status.

This is why I was conflicted and ended up giving him 6m. We'll basically have two 1st pairings.

Well your only paying 9.5 for the 1st pair and 7 for the second pairing that is pretty good balance. Even the 3rd pair is just over 4 million. 21 for three pairings is fairly affordable now adays. That was essentially our right side couple years ago lol
