I like the idea of adding 3-4 players for lower contracts and smaller trades, rather than cashing out for Tofolli or Dadonov. I don't know if Galchenyuk is the right fit, but this would give the Sharks more flexibility AND allow them to draft two high prospects.

I'm seeing Händemark frequently listed as the 4th line center for next year on this site, is he really the next man up?

I don't know much about him, can y'all give me a quick scouting report?

Handemark is big, durable and defensively conscious. He was a captain in swedens top league. He wont be scoring 20 goals in the nhl but the Sharks need a 4c who can handle himself in the corners, make hits and play defense. Hes not too young (26) so hes mature and experienced.

I also question Galchenyuk but i think he'll be willing to sign a cheap deal to play alongside some skilled forwards and maybe rejuvenate his career. It could potentially be a steal as most other scoring wingers are going to be wanting 4-6 million in UFA this summer which is out of the Sharks price range.

Foligno is one of the better defensive forwards in the game right now. Hes super strong and tough and plays the right side and can put up solid third line production. That 2nd is basically a 3rd so I think it’s well worth the price paid. Were likely losing Melker who has been a wizard on our PK. Foligno can bring everything Melk brought and more.

I think a 3rd plus Sorensen is a better deal but it's not the end of the world

The 3rd is 2021, i expect minnesota wants a pick this year. Like i said, the pick is basically a 3rd anyway.

Speedy agitator, defensively responsible, can score goals with the right center. Put up 17 with Jumbo last year. Hes a near perfect 3LW.

Well not perfect but prototypical. Gives you everything youd want in a third liner. Will drop the gloves if pushed.

If he was 4 years younger, i would strongly consider this...and maybe still would/should. My problem is that Foligno solves so many problems for the Wild with all he brings to the table both hockey-wise, and leadership-wise...it’s tough for me to envision a Wild roster without him.

Which is precisely why i want him on the Sharks. The deal could be altered to have a prospect like Alex True over Sorensen or just a 2021 3rd but i think Sharks fans would disagree with that. I guess it really depends on the direction Guerin intends to take the wild as they've been a good, not great bubble team for so many years (i mean no offense, just my observation, i like Minnesota)

Why is folino so loved here. He is a solid bottom sixer. Not that much of a upgrade over melker

He’s a lot like Jonas Brodin in that you really need to watch him play a lot of games before you start to see ALL the little things he does to make the team better. Add to this the fact that he is/has been the glue that holds the old guard and the new kids on the block together makes him an incredibly valuable player!

That makes some sense but. Still overpayment imo.

I'm a lot lower on Sorenson than you. He has speed, but he's pretty small and gets pushed off pucks fairly easily. He did put up 17 with Jumbo and Labanc, but that was the year before this disaster of a season. He seems to get himself (or is set up) in positions to score but just doesn't convert opportunities. He gets breakaways but has essentially zero playmaking ability as a passer.

He's fine defensively and could replace Melker on the PK if they keep him, but I'd rather they trade him and his $1.5 mil cap hit and get a pick back while signing a FA for $1 mil to fill the role.

Although not the same kind of player, production-wise, he's a Donskoi with noticeably less puck skill. All that considered, he's a useful bottom-6 wing who has already reached his ceiling.

Just don't like the idea of giving up a 2nd then overpaying for a guy who doesn't really fit any of the holes we have.

Don't get me wrong I like the idea of Foligno and what he could bring to the team, but I don't think this would not be a good trade foe us.

I also think you overpaid on Paquette.
