No thanks from Edmonton. Glendening isn’t worth a 3rd.

Take out Helm and the 4th rounder and Vancouver probably accepts

Looks good except Smith coming to Detroit I seriously doubt it happens.

Smith-No thanks from red wings side either, gonna cost a first to dump that fire contract.

I think wings will have to eat half of helms contract to make the Canucks trade happen which is ok

Pretty sure he fetches a 3rd at the TDL. He’s one of those guys that actual NHL GM’s/HC covet because they play the “right” way and will be valuable in the playoffs.

These trades all favor Detroit.

Ottawa would do that Vancouver trade without dumping Helm in the process.

Ok. I always would only give like a 5th for him.

Not really, they're pretty reasonable actually, Glendening is probably a round or two too high but other than that they're reasonable cap dump trades.

Marleau had one year left and he cost a 1st, Eriksson has two left so Demko and a 2nd is reasonable and Van desperately needs to dump the last year of Eriksson's deal to make space for Hughes and Pettersson's new deals which will likely be large.

As for the Smith trade it's only a 2nd, the Jets gave up much more to dump one year of Mason and his cap hit was about the same as Smith's.

Helm isn’t exactly a dump either. He led the terrible Red Wings with a -6 goal differential. Filppula on the other hand had a -42 for an example.

No we don’t. Eriksson/Demko is enough. Even at that a bigger package might be better with another team. Depends on many factors. Is a later 1st better than a young goalie with development years under his belt? Not imo if a team lacks in goal.

No room for Helm.

A mid 1st isn’t a slam dunk to be more than at most a mid 6 F maybe top 4 D. Demko is further along on development that is better than a maybe in 2yrs.

He's got 1 year left at a 4.3M cap hit and a base salary of 2.35M next season. There's far worse contracts out there. A team trying to get to the cap floor can get him for nothing, use his cap hit and flip him at the deadline. It's not a horrendous contract and he's not completely useless. Look at Los Angeles, New Jersey and Ottawa's blue lines, they're all pitiful.

If so, you're stuck with Byfield. Nice position to be in. Though the Wings earned the 1OA fair and square.

Something around Eriksson and Demko for say Hirose is fair, And no way Mantha is signed for 2 years leading him up to free agency. He'll be signed long term like Bertuzzi Yzerman already said as much.

eh, there are a lot of knocks on Byfield. One being he's lazy and takes plays off.
I don't think he even goes 3OA. I think Dry goes at 3.
