Buffalo would be a good destination for Lias and/or Puljujarvi. Not sure Eichel would be too happy with gambles like that though.

Take out Dylan Strome and Chicago still isn't interested in the trade.

Risto does nothing for us. Does not fill a need, doesn't have a spot in our lineup, and IMO isn't a very good D-man.

Oilers wouldn’t take a second for JP..... holland has been clear priority is to bring him.

Not even close on the Chicago trade. Hawks wouldn't do it even if you took out Strome and Maata and tried to give away those two guys. They do nothing for us, especially Risto

Thanks. That was well done.
I really think JP is boarderline untouchable atm.
My theory is holland and JP already have an agreement in place for next year. Signing now makes zero sense for both sides. He won’t be eligible for the playoffs that might happen. It’s in the best interest of both sides to sign again in Finland and start the year there since it might be 2-3 months sooner can get playing and in mid season form before signing with oilers and coming to camp to try out for the role he wants.

Interesting concept, I could see that working out well for player and team. I guess we'll find out soon enough... if JP signs in KHL that means he definitely isn't coming back to the NHL next season, but if he signs in Liiga then it's entirely possible.

Agreed no way Chicago takes that deal. They are still high on Strome and should be. He is a quality 2-3C in the NHL. Risto does not fill a need for them so it would take different pieces to interest them in moving Strome. They can just buyout Maatta so they don't need to give up assets to try and dump.him. It would be frightening to see the Sabres going into next season with JP and Andersson as 2 of there top 6. Think that may be the point when Jack asks for a trade if he finds out that is their plan. Don't mind trying to acquire JP if the askingnprixe isn't tonhigh and then staring him.out lower in the lineup and then if he "earns" a bigger role then great

We would need a forward back, preferably a center with room to grow (Mits could work but he isn't close to the player strome is currently) and a future pick.

I think Mittelstadt + 2021 first round pick could work well enough, and most Chicago fans agree with that value.

We definitely don't want a deal getting a right handed D-man back, because we have a log jam there.

Otherwise the only name I would consider is Cozens for Strome (1 for 1).

but I posted that trade when the ”Rumor” (which has since been debunked) that Strome was ”available” and got chewed up for it.

In reality we don't want to give up Strome unless it's a no brainer. Buffalo will likely have to look for it's 2C somewhere else.

Curious where the debunking came from in regards to the Friedman spot from a few months ago?

@Chihawk say the line.

Basically what he said in the buffalo podcast was a joke because he knew his buddy (the podcast owner) wanted strome.

He later went on a Chicago podcast and cleared things up, saying he hadn't heard the hawks we're shopping Strome.

@Jdfitz77 here is updated info on Strome.

If u listen to the podcast from buffalo,
u can tell he is absolutely NOT joking
He obviously walked this back in your interview
Why? Idk
Maybe his source was pissed about him going public with the info?
Tough to say
But his explanation given in the podcast you post is BS
Listen to the buffalo podcast
No way he was joking
Not ONE chuckle
Repeated it more than once

Am i stunned? Don’t know what ya mean?
Did u listen to Friedman in the interview?
THEY WERE NOT JOKING AROUND

Dictation of the interview for ya:

Andrew Peters (host):
...where are we on Dylan Strome?

Friedman:
He’s available. Like he’s available. You could do that. I don’t think the cost is, is really prohibitive.

Peters:
(shockingly) what?!

Friedman:
(Still in a completely steady voice)
No, i don’t.

**a couple seconds of dead air**

Craig Rivet (host):
K, my heart just skipped a beat there. Trying to process this information right now Elliott.

Friedman:
(Still in a completely steady voice)
Yeah, i (inaudible) now guys. The whole thing about this is we don’t know where any of this is gonna take us, so it’s a little bit different. But he’s available & i don’t think the cost is too prohibitive.

Peters:
Well we appreciate you doing our due diligence for us

**then a light chuckle from Friedman & Rivet,
(imo) about Peters comment- NOT Strome being available being a joke, bc they all then go right back to talking seriously about it**

Peters:
That’s huge news

Rivet:
You just set our show up for the next 2 weeks,
thanks Elliott

Friedman:
Well I’m here for u guys, that’s what it comes down to

Peters:
Hey Craig, are you going to sharpie him on your dry erase board?

**NO LAUGHTER FROM ANYONE**

Rivet:
Listen, I’m a fan of Dylan Strome. I think that he’s still a really young hockey player in this league at age, what is he 23 years old? Just turned 23. You know, the last couple years he’s put up some pretty good points in the National hockey league. And i see an upside in his game moving forward. I really do. So he’s a really interesting player moving forward. No question about it

**STILL NO LAUGHTER**
**still nothing from Friedman to indicate this is a joke**

Friedman:
Yeah

Peters:
Next Elliott.....
**convo now moves on to another topic**

If you think they were joking, then listen again

@ChiHawk

Then go on the Chicago podcast a week later Friedman said he knew Rivet and Peters were big Strome fans and was messing with them a bit. Regardless if you believe Friedman saying this a week later to Boyle, this was only Friedman's opinion and saying "I don't believe the cost is too prohibitive" is completely subjective and opinionated....what does that even mean? It won't cost a couple first round picks in his opinion? We have no idea what he even means by saying "I DON'T BELIEVE"...his opinion "IS TOO COST PROHIBITIVE" subjective value he didn't define.

Sabres fans are crying so hard for a center and Strome they are just going to be throwing up garbage ideas like this....ZERO not ONE of these will work and they will see once the season starts. Absolutely rediculous they continue to bet on this subjective opinion of what one man's idea which he didn't define as what he means by cost prohibitive.

Friedman said “he’s available” THREE TIMES
Not once, did he qualify that with “i think”

Only time he did that was when he talked about what it would cost to get him

Strome is available
For what? We’ll see

But with Dach looking legit,
makes more sense to trade Strome than to sign him to a big deal
