You are correct. Eichel isn't getting traded.

The valuation on both of these trades heavily favours the Sabres in both instances. (What a shocker).

Both teams easily decline.

Ghost for Risto is actually pretty close.

Agree on the TBL deal though

unpopular take but Mittelstadt value cant be much higher than a late 2nd or 3rd..... i mean why take a risk on a kid that clearly is struggling.... other hand nylander looks great once he left Buffalo... either way this isn't enough but Mittelstadt value isn't great imo.

Lol no Nylander didn’t. He was playing with Toews or Kane at least for 25ish games and has 26 pts in 65 games and got pushed down the line up.

Cirelli would cost our 2020 1st, Mitts, a 2nd round pick, and probably a D prospect like Borgen

In an ideal world Ghost is moved for an ED exempt player but that being said I don’t hate it. Ristolainen is an interesting case......he might just benefit from a fresh start with less pressure.

He actually did look pretty good multiple times this season for the hawks. The majority of his points did not come from when he was playing with Toews and Kane, and him moving up and down the lineup helped him find consistency.

As a rookie in his first NHL season, 26 points (on pace for 30+) while playing mostly 4th line minutes with an ATOI of 12:08.

So yeah, looks pretty decent since being freed from Buffalo.

Why wouldn't they just offer sheet him then! Tampa won't have room to sign him. Basically 2 1sts a 2nd and Borgen is a huge over pay

I don’t watch the Hawks so I’ll take your word for it. Dobber has him with Toews or Kane for 41 games, getting 16 points from those games. He was never even given a chance in Buffalo, but I would assume he would have done close to that there as well, seeing as he scored roughly at the same pace. My point is he didn’t look “great” outside of a couple spurts, and will probably go down as a disappointment at pick 8 unless something changes

Toews or Kane is different than Toews and Kane, but yeah.

I would definitely look for him to breakout next year, especially if we keep the Nylander, Strome, Kane line.

If you care to see how he did in Chicago, highlights won't tell you the full story... But he did have decent ones this season.

Good thing I never said Toews and Kane then huh 😉

The only thing I said was he didn’t have a great year. And he didn’t from all accounts. Decent, ok are all words that describe his year, not great.

I just cannot see the Flyers wanting to add another RHD for an extra million dollars. Makes no sense. They are solid on the right side. No need for Ristolainen and his cap hit.

That’s fine. Seen a few flyers fans say that it’s a fair deal. Ghosts shine has really dulled the last two years, as has Ristos. Ghosts contract also runs for another year. So getting out from that last year could be beneficial if neither rebound

Cirelli deal is closer to reality than people think. It is an underpay but not by much. Another B level prospect or a 3rd rounder maybe. Cirelli plays 3rd line on the Globetrotters. But realistically, Tampa dumps someone else for peanuts and signs Cirelli to a cheap 1 year deal.

Pretty good for a rookie in the NHL, great even if you are talking about expectations, with most people expecting him to start/stay in Rockford the entire year.

We’ll just agree to disagree. He already played 3 full AHL seasons. As pick #8, that in and of itself is a major disappointment.

We all know Buffalo mismanaged the hell out of him from his draft year, I doubt much would have changed if he had stayed, a lot remains to be seen with how he turns out... But if he becomes a top 6 winger I think it'll be had to say he was a disappointment anywhere but buffalo.

And Buf is more then happy to have traded a guy who couldn’t crack their miserable lineup for Joki, who’s got 1st pairing potential. He’s also shown nothing that he could hang as a top 6 winger. His draft capital was a mistake for Buf, and his trade capital was a mistake for Chi. And he’ll have to become a good top six winger for that to change

I don't know why Buffalo fans are so ~eh what's the word? Toxic?? about that trade. I get that you guys need a win, with the state of your organization, but that trade was a year ago and is still largely undecided.

You guys are always so quick to say it was a terrible trade for Chicago, and value blah blah blah, but you don't account for how crowded our right side is, with Boqvist who definitely has top 2 potential, Mitchell, who the Blackhawks chose over Jokiharju, Murphy, Seabrook, along with a gluttony of other defenseman.

The truth is that Jokiharju was not going to make our team this year, after getting sent down in the middle of last season he didn't dominate like expected, and while I don't agree with moving on so quickly, I understand why the hawks did it and I think Nylander is the real deal.

This is not to mention how Joki’s offensive numbers have largely stalled since arriving in Buffalo, scoring 15 points in 69 games in Buffalo, when the previous season in Chicago he scored 12 points in 38 games.

Don't get me wrong, I hope joki works out, and I'm sure he will get better, I thought he was great for us. I just am not sure it's the runaway trade all Buffalo fans have convinced themselves it is.

Not toxic about the trade at all. You have a guy drafted 8th overall that’s having a tough time playing consistently in the NHL. I call it ok, not great, and you’re trying to convince me that it in fact is great. He’s scoring on pace of Coner Sheary. Does he have talent, sure. Can he flip the script and become a star? Absolutely. Has he shown anything to think that will happen? In a few spurts. Meanwhile Joki is playing really sound defense, and good, not great, good possession numbers. One of the reasons he’s not putting up the same amount of points is when he was in Chi he had 60+% offensive zone starts. In Buf, he’s actually starting in the dzone more often at 53%.
I think the big thing for me, defense generally take longer to develop. If it were reverse and Nylander was a d he might be right on track. But he’s not, and Joki is and already has played more NHL games and is 2 years younger. I hope Nylander figures it out, I’m just not gonna call last season great by any means

With my toxicity comment, I did not mean you specifically, just that Buffalo fans in general seem to flaunt this trade as some sort of robbery when really it's not been decided.

I don't intend to convince you that Nylander is great , or Jokiharju is bad... When in reality they are both just decent (for right now). I hope the trade works out for both teams, and both players thrive in their new environment.

Both players have had to learn to play different in their new organizations, and I think Nylanders defense has definitely improved.

Mind you Buffalo would have to get back their own 3rd round pick but, if they offer sheet Cirelli at the salary mentioned above it would cost them 2021 1st and 2021 3rd rounder. So why would they trade 2 1sts, a 2nd and a prospect for him knowing TB can't match the offer??

Essentially Philly gets an OFD with poor defensive skills for a OFD with poor defensive skills. I feel like they look for a supporting top-6 forward or draft picks for Ghost.
