Marner To Chicago

Created by: AnalyticsGeek
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 22, 2020
Published: Jun. 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I would like to see Marner play with Kane in Chicago, but I don’t like the contract situation for them since they will have to resign Boqvist, Dach & Kurashev all due extensions the following year. With De Haan & Crawford’s salary coming off the books, plus the possibility of the cap going up & Keith retiring, Chicago can clear around 12-15 Million to get their young stars back in this archair gm.

Obviously a lot of unrealistic moves, but what’d you guys think of the team? Are they elite?

I would LOVE to have Marner. You're right that it's not happening, but he's EXACTLY what they need. Those players are soo hard to get.

Thats not enough for 1st overall. And its possible you win the play in and the pick isnt top 15 anymore

Thanks for the feedback. Agree, I don’t think the trade will happen but I’m glad you believe Marner is a good player.

Oof this team would be ELITE. I think we would have to include Kubalik (traded to Ottawa here) or Debrincat instead of Saad in a trade to Toronto though

Well, the Sens are getting two high profile wingers & the 2021 will probably be in the top 5 to top 10 so I think it’s in the ballpark.

I do agree that it probably isnt enough, and although the pick from Chicago is in 2021, with this team we probably make the playoffs so its gonna be a later pick. I think Kubalik has more value to the Hawks than he would to the Sens. They need that top tier prospect to lead them out of the rebuild

Thanks for the feedback. Yes it might need to cost more to get Marner but I’m looking at the circumstance of Toronto being able to resign saad.

I would take Saad Murphy and 1st all day, probably wouldnt want to give up Dach.

That makes sense. I feel like regardless of his contract he's still a big part of the core there, but if he's for sale for this I would definitely do it. It makes a lot of sense to add young win now players like Marner to our core because he's still only a couple years older than Dach but he's also at the point where he could contribute with Kane and Toews and help us "make one last run" which is our new catchphrase

I would for sure do that, might be weighted in Chicagos favor but if the goal is to give up his contract while getting back quality talent I think it works

But there would be no restrictions on the pick! And since it would probably go into lottery, that might end up being in top-3. Also.. I like concept of player like Saad with either Matthews or Tavares. That guy for some reason does not score much in Chicago and he should be 50-60 pt two-way monster.

Yeah thats fair. I just think at this point Lafreniere would be the only guy in that draft who is gonna get close to Marner's production so unless we miraculously won the lottery it would be worth it. And Saad is a two way monster he just hits a lot of posts and gets unlucky a lot. I think him with Tavares would be really sick but he would work well with Matthews too.

that does not get u marner. Its not even close. Marner is one of the best playmakers the NHL has seen and he is only 22. He is young and has plenty of good years ahead so pass

I believe he is still a valuable player to any team. His two-way game is amazing, his point totals should raise in Toronto in more offense-based environment. So like 50-60 pt two-way playoff performer for 6M (I dont think he signs for above 6M in his extension) is a good piece.
