This is what I'd love to see if Guerin traded Staal. It does create a hole they'd need to address immediately, but it gives them a player that maybe in a few years can be a top 6 guy.

Carter is on a steep decline the last few years. Youll be lucky to be getting 35 points out of him and thats the ceiling.

I'd be okay with this as well. Then we should be aggressive for that 1C this offseason knowing that Khovanov and Suzuki are on their way.

I'd love to get this for Staal assuming we acquire a young center that can play in the top 6 in a different trade

That would be a deadline deal. But if it werent... 35 points for 2.6mil for 1 year is pretty good.

Yeah, ideally this trade happens, they extend Galch, and trade a defenseman for a center would probably work.

Martin Pom is probably about as good as Carter. So this is very bad for the Canes.

dang JEFF CARTER HATERS!

Lol smile I think he would be a very good add for a cup run.

Kinda similar to what the Canes did in 06 getting Mark Recchi and Doug Weight.

'Kinda'

Thats his ceiling. If his decline continues as it has for three years it could be much, much less.

Again, Ill take Carter for a cup run anyday.

The experience is all we need.

Fair. His playoff numbers are crap since 2014. Hes basically turned into a liability in the second season. I think Carolina could do better.

Kings accept. If we're choosing prospects, the Kings would want someone who is expansion draft exempt, preferably a forward.

I don't know much about Carolina's prospect pool. Mattheos maybe? Obviously Suzuki and Bokk are off the table.

Regardless of any subsequent trades, this one would be incredible for the Wild...and suicidal for the Canes!
