OTT declines.

We cant assume our pick is going to be out of the top 10 next year, so were not gonna trade it.

Why would Ottawa do that? The sens aren't trading their own 1st next season. That pick is probably top ten next year, so it's basically a mid 1st, the 33rd overall pick and another top 10 pick for the 9th overall pick.

Why would Ottowa give up almost 3 first-round picks to get 1 first and a 3rd. The Ottawa pick will almost be a first-round pick because they suck. no way Ottowa would give so much to move a couple of spots up

You mean to move up 9 spots, not a couple spots, and into the top 10

I do not think you are getting Puljujavari for that package. I think Edmonton would want a 1rst round pick back for him.

They can want a 1st all they want, there isn't a GM on this planet that will give you a 1st for him

That's not happening, there is not a team that will pay a 1st for a guy that the Oilers decided not to sign and returned back to Europe. Way too much risk, so his value is no longer a 1st from when he was drafted.

Listen up. We are talking about a 4th overall pick with huge upside. In my opinion only he is worth a later round first round pick. This is exactly the type of player the Hawks should be trying to acquire for their rebuild which is now in progress.

He doesn't get moved for a sad-sack package like this. Not when there's a possibility he returns to Edmonton.

It really doesn't matter. No team is trading a 1st for the RFA rights to a guy that was in Europe last year. If you think he's gonna come over and we a stud then thats fine, just sign him and get him over here and be done with it. Theres a huge risk that he might not even want to come back over. You will not get a 1st for him. I will guarentee it

And most everyone doesn't agree with you. I appreciate the thought and fully understand that draft picks aren't worth what people think they are on here, but at the same time JP is damaged goods right now and will not return a 1st round pick for what becomes a professional tryout kind of situation because of attitude.

We'll see. Holland already had an offer from Carolina for a mid-2nd + prospect, so I think I'm closer to his value than you are.

The offer I usually do in my ACGM's is sikura, a 2020 2nd, and 2021 4th, which is about the same value or better than what you mentioned depending on the prospect and EDM fans still rip me apart every time

As I said, Holland has a similar offer last fall and didn't take it. Since then Jesse dominated the Liiga and led his team to a 1st place finish, proving that he was 100% recovered from his hip injury/ surgery last spring. It makes sense to think the ask has gone up since last fall, so that's probably why Oilers fans don't like your offer.

Besides, if Puljujarvi does come back to Edmonton he'll step right into a top-9 role, something that no 2nd round pick will do for 4-5 years - if ever.

A 2nd, 4th and 5th is decent value; JP is just not going to return a 1st especially in this draft. The longer Holland waits, the worse the value will be on JP. He needs to either sign the kid this season or move him and holding out is bad strategy with exponential risk.

Right, and if he has a down season his value will fall and if the oilers and his agent can't agree his value will plummet; Holland is gambling and should sign him right away otherwise too much risk.

You offer is too low. Period. End.

Holland has had better offers already, nobody is going to accept your offer no matter how convinced you are that it's "decent value".

As a oilers fan I agree that there is no way poolparty is worth a first, Ken Holland inflated his "value"for no reason

I’ll just ask the question to cut into this argument: why would the hawks trade for JP in the first place? Not saying he isn’t talented, he is, as one of you said. But, as one of you said, “he has an attitude problem.” Suffice to say, I guess bowman just loves his reclamation projects. However, the only thing I can’t figure out is why we want one with a bad attitude? Ehhh, I guess we did trade for nylander and I’ll bet attitude played a role in his not working in Buffalo (along with bad development). It’s not we’ve had a problem with Finnish players with bad attitudes am I right??? Say, who did we trade for nylander..........

Whoops

You claim he has an attitude problem, but can you substantiate it? Can you even find a media report anywhere speculating that he has a bad attitude?

Oh believe me, I don’t know and I don’t speak to that. I have no idea if he has one, ChiHawk seems to think he does though. That’s the point I was making.

Former 4th overall pick and the talent is clearly there. If the hawks can get him to put it together in the NHL thats a type of move that helps immensely with the rebuild
