Ok why, why, why, why there is not a real chance that Nylander will go from Toronto to Carolina.
Plus the Toronto is not even a good deal. Try and add picks and prospects then maybe it would be a good deal.

Detroit passes, not giving up a 3rd for Reimer. You can give us a 3rd to take him. Otherwise we just sign a Reimer like goalie for free in the offseason

He isn't somebody you pay a 3rd to take LOL. a 3rd is his rightful value. Some team will pay this if he hits the block

You think the Leafs are going to trade two better players for two worse players because they are altruistic and just want to help Carolina out? It's almost the same cap hit for a significant downgrade.

It's a base to start a trade discussion - Nylander is > than Pesce , Trocheck I guess could be considered > than Kapenen based purely on the fact he can play C , but in all reality long term this is bad for TO - if Pesce is available I'd be more inclined to offer Kapenen + an A prospect to get talking, not overly interested in moving Nylander for Pesce Canes adding to the trade would create interest but I don't Canes wanting or willing to add

Trocheck has fallen off quite significantly in the last couple seasons , he hasn't matched his 70 pt season from a few years ago and it's not looking like he will again

I don’t see the Canes moving one of the best defensive contracts in the league for a 3RW. This scenario isn’t feasible anyways because the Canes will need to be 5 million under the cap to account for this season’s bonuses and 20-21’s.

Detroit's not giving up a freaking 3rd rounder for a 32 year old backup, I'd rather give up a 2nd+Prospect for either Georgiev or Murrays RFA rights over giving up a 3rd for Reimer.

also, Georgiev is more of a risk than Reimer and costs more to acquire and who knows how much to re-sign.

Plus I'm pretty sure Blashill and Yzerman don't want to deal with the whole Reimer and Bernier rivalry again! It won't be as bad since they won't be playing with the Toronto media hounds on them but still...

he's still better than kapanen. he's not the same player any more, but still can make for a good 2nd line C. centers are also more valuable in trade than wingers

Well they already have 2 goalies over 30 and one that is 28. So giving up a 3rd for a 32yr old back up goalie doesn't make much sense either.

Oh i totally get that detroit doesn't need him. I just didn't agree with his take of a team paying to take him.

Rebuilding teams don't trade high 3rd rd picks for journeyman goalies

Ok that's completely fair and makes sense to me. But I also think that comment was just a reaction and wasn't meant to be taken so literal.

Detroit fans on here either have their heads in the clouds, or don't watch much hockey, which looking at their team, actually makes a lot of sense. They don't want a proven goalie who is 20th in GAA and 21st in SV% for a measly 3rd Rd pick, but would rather have a goalie who is 40th in GAA and 30th in SV% and give up a high 2nd and a prospect on a team that is rebuilding. They think they can sign the equivalent to the 20th best goalie in the league through UFA, but don't realize they will have to pay through the nose to get a legit goalie to sign to a rebuilding team that has only one legit NHL caliber defender, if at all.

Then you have the TOR fans that say Nylander is a CRAZY overpay for Pesce, who would be their top pairing RD, and suggest "Kapanen and a prospect." Sure! How about CAR gives you Foegele and McKeown for Reilly. Seems fair right?

for me just jerking around (see what I did there), people are getting fairly invested in this. I wont submit my florida dumps Bob and best forwards to Carolina for a big haul lineup.
