I'm thinking an addition to the trade would be a sixth or seventh-round pick or two. It would help the rebuild there and it's not the end of the world.

I'd much rather have Spezza than JT.

Also CHI rejects, their RD side would look like: sophomore guy, guy who has never played an NHL game, guy who is washed up and on one of the worst (if not the worst) contract in hockey and guy who hasn't played the RD in years

Not to mention the price for Murphy is nothing short of Kap.

I love Big Joe but have to agree with Kakko Spezza is a better fit than a 42 year Joe .

Nic Patan on the 1st line LW? I don;t see him in the Leafs lineup under any circumstances

You make that sound like a bad idea.

I really doubt Jumbo wants to leave his home and family for a super hectic place to play in toronto in his final season. Hes not a media fan and he loves the sharks. Maybe a tdl move is SJ isnt in the playoff picture but not a whole season.

I see this often and I don't understand, why is it a good idea to trade Murphy. And why does Chicago need Johnson?

Seabs won't be in the press box the majority of the for chiacgo, as chihawk says it would cause colliton to lose the lockerroom (guys like Crow, toews, kane, kieth won't be happy about it) . Boqvist is a lock to make the team, and Ian Mitchell is NHL ready but we just don't have a place for him on the roster. Muphy is how we open up that roster spot. Murphy could go play on the left side (he's done it before) but thats a short term fix and not ideal. We would also have to move both dehaan and maata to make that happen

You don't know how rebuild works I see. That's exactly the kind of trade the team needs to make and Bowman will make. Connor Murphy has two years left and he's 27 years old. Trading him for younger assets and probably a few picks makes sense and this is only me thinking about options for the Leafs. Keeping this team as is, isn't going to be an option for Bowman. Like it or not they are rebuilding and they are going to be looking for assets and picks.

He already said he wanted a trade to a contender. Him leaving SJ is a forgone conclusion. Your assumption that he loves the sharks more than he loves the playoffs is nonsense and he already said he was upset he wasn't traded. He told the media he would make his next contract fit the cap to be on a contender. He's not signing in SJ if he can get another deal, even at league min.

I think two bottom picks are added to that trade but a rebuild is happening for the hawks. Thinking anything else is delusional. This was just me considering possible trades for the Leafs. More Young players and Assets are better for the Leafs and Johnsson has more points overall and has been better than Kapanen but with his injury, they could get some pieces with him. That's three NHL assets and a player who's played top 6 minutes and possibly a pick or two for Murphy. That's the kind of trade that Bowman is going to be looking for.

Honestly, I didn't even really look at the left side much. I was just, "THINKING OUT LOUD SINCE YOU CAN'T READ" about possible moves for the Leafs. I think Jumbo joe can be a better defensive asset than Spezza but honestly, sign both and put Spezza on the wing.

Saying a player is not nearly as good playing with third-line guys as he is with franchise players is a given. Saying that player sucks because he's not producing the same with significantly worse players is stupid period.

This makes no sense what so ever. Guys like Matthews...Kane...Crosby...you know super stars. They carry lines. I.E. whatever line they're on...that line produces. It happens all the time. If AJ can't produce away from the superstars....then YOU'RE the one being carried. I mean...AJ was the one being carried. Matthews AND Nylander.

You're assuming he's being Carried. He played drastically fewer games without Matthews with drastically less ice time linemates who are not even in the conversation with the players he played the majority of his ice time with. You're expecting the same production and equal stats from drastically less talented linemates and next to no ice time. Most of those games as well were at the beginning of the season when he came from Europe and was still acclimating to North American ice. Most players can't do that period never mind produce the stats you are suggesting If he could do that chances are he would be a 10 million dollar AAV superstar not a really good player going to a rebuilding team. Advanced stats are an indicator to take into account not the final word and not to be taken out of context in a bubble.

This is just FACTUALLY wrong. and it's ok. I'm not attacking you. It's just education.

AJ quite literally played 424:28 out of 560:08 5-on-5 minutes with Matthews. That's 76% of his season. AND it's 339:13 with BOTH Matthews and Nylander. I do agree with you that advance stats are NOT the final indicator. I'm a Hawks fan that defends Dylan Strome on here because of exactly what you're saying. Advanced stats don't tell us that for some STUPID reason Strome was playing winger instead of center for 25% of his season. However, they do tell a story. If you're going to tell me he was injured...ok fine...lets just factor in the games he wasn't injured. Oh wait...we are. So yeah...He was TERRIBLE.
