Don't sign Eakin and have more cap space for the Laine/Pionk/Copp raises in 2021.
Or, trade for a legit 2C.

I thought the "using the cap space" meant a deal would be made to eat salary and gain picks or prospects. Kinda like a Steen plus a 2nd for a 6th
