2020 realistic

Created by: gregb569
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 22, 2020
Published: Jun. 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
3rd line RD options:

1 - If Will Reilly is ready (which I doubt he is, but another Marino-type surprise would be amazing :tearsofjoy) we promote him.
2 - Go into UFA, there's a ton of options we'd be able to sign for 1 year as a plug and play, stop gap type of signing. TVR, Bogosian, Rutta, Stone, Engelland etc. My ideal order would most likely be:
Engelland
TVR
Rutta
Bogosian
Stone
3. O/S a RFA like Cernak or Weegar (although he is probably too pricey.)

I think scenario 2 is most likely with maybe us signing TVR for a 1 year deal.

2021 we will be again, tight for cap space but with only ZAR, Blueger, Marino & Murray as important pieces to resign, we should be alright. We'll have to pawn a pick/prospect to SEA to move Horny to make it work.

Trades
1.

ANA
  1. Bjugstad, Nick
  2. 2020 4th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Placeholder, this can be done with any team who's willing. Moving Bjugstad frees up a decent chunk of cap space we desperately need. JJ is most likely going nowhere, and I highly doubt they trade Horny this offseason, so it has to be Jugs. Willing to package as much as a 4th to "get rid" of this contract, although I don't expect it to really cost anything.
2.
PIT
  1. Labanc, Kevin [RFA Rights]
SJS
  1. Jarry, Tristan [RFA Rights]
  2. Rodrigues, Evan [RFA Rights]
  3. 2022 4th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
SJ gets a drastic upgrade in net + capable middle 6/bottom 6 F. Not sure if SJ is willing to move Labanc at this point, but it solves their most glaring weakness.

Unfotunately we have two glaring weaknesses, goalie and top six right wingers. This fills one hole while digging another one deeper. But its definitely a deal worth considering but in the end we probably keep labanc and go after ufa goaltending like Greiss or Khudobin.

I think Murray will be able to bounce back.. he is a 2nd half of the season type of goalie anyway. He was starting to play really well.

As for the winger weakness.. I'm not sure you'd call having Jake, Zucker, Rust & Horny in the top 6 anything but weak? Especially considering the flexibility this team has in moving guys like McCann or Labanc to the top 6...
