Please dont teade both of our top picks this year just to sign Hall, you want a repeat of rhe Hamonic trade? This is the most stacked draft class in like 20 years and you dont want to pick until the 4th round

Regardless of how "stacked" the 2020 draft class is , what are the chances either the 20ish or 50ish OA become better than or even equal to Tayler Hall?

I dont disagree with this completely im just saying that moving our 2019 1st, 2020 1st and 2nd to sign Taylor Hall isnt good asset management. I mean Dobson is already better than Hamonic. That trade is an atrocity looking back now

A 2nd rounder is way too much for Andersson, hes not even in the NHL right now and screams bust right now.

It’s not 100% about signing hall. It’s also about getting out from under lucic’s contract especially with the NMC and the expansion draft coming up.

He will 100% waive his NMC for expansion, he is on very good terms with management

Not sure Hall is a good fit for Calgary. I feel Calgary needs a better 2C first and foremost. Hall may look nice on the wing if the C gets upgraded.

    That NYR deal is bad.

Even if he does waive his NMC it’s still clearing 3 years of a $5.25mi cap. Flames have Gaudreau for 2 years And Gio is close to the end, why would we not want to go all in and make a push before our windows start closing. $5 mill cap can go a long way

You realize Lucic was a positive value player this year in terms of performance right? He had a 7.6 GAR this year. Yes his contract sucks but he is still an NHL caliber player by all metrics.

I fully understand he was not a tire fire by any means as much as most people try to point out. However hall will move the needle a HELL of a lot more than lucic will. It’s about efficiency and making every dollar work for us. Even if it’s not hall can $5.25 net us a player that will move the needle more than lucic?

The flip side is name one team willing to take on lucic’s contract. He’s too pricey and not enough factor for a championship team to trade for him. Teams mid way through the rebuild will be wary of cap as they have their own superstars to pay for so it leaves rebuilders. They don’t want him for his skill they want him for the net return they can get added on by taking on his contract
