Jets 21-22

Created by: Whiteout204
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 26, 2020
Published: Jun. 26, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Assuming flat cap for the next few years, jets are able to extend/bridge all of their core assets to fair contracts. They trust in their development pipeline for defense to get good use out of ELCs. This allows them some cap space in the future, as well as the ability to try and land a few more important pieces.

Cirelli trade gives Tampa one cost controlled middle 6 center and one cost controlled bottom 4 D-man with physical size. Both were first round picks. 2nd and 3rd round picks are added for more value and to match something similar to what an offer sheet would land TB. If the Cirelli long shot fails, I would try to get Danault from MTL.

Armia would be nice to have back in WPG, but I would take a low cap hit Perrault short term as well.

Lots of cap space available for future contract negotiations, filling out the AHL roster and possibly even deadline deals.

Laine contract is on the high side in my opinion, especially if Kyle Connor continues to play well and becomes a comparable for Laine's contract negotiation.

If Cirelli is willing to sign that contract, Tampa is not trading him.

Yeah, I totally agree that Tampa should not be trading him if he signs for that. But with the cap crunch coming down, who knows what will happen. As I mentioned above, Danault could be another good target for 2C.

Danault would be great for the Jets but I think he's staying in Montreal long term.
