Toronto, the search has just been for show the entire time. With 3 games a day going, clean ups between games and overtimes likely, it just makes sense to have eastern teams play in an eastern time zone for viewers. If the eastern games were played out in Edmonton you could easily have games going to 3am or earlier eastern.

I actually hope they go to like a ****ing Greenland or some **** and play outside NA because the risk of outbreak in that hub city could endanger the whole next season.

No, I don't agree. I think Edmonton was more likely to win the bid until Toronto revised their proposal last week. Now I think Toronto will win.

100%. the NHL was always going to Toronto. They could careless about them being the Covid Capital of Canada. It's all about keeping Toronto happy

I think you are right as this covid situation is so uncertain and changing by the minute and playoff hub site could be closed down instantly which would end playoffs even before they start.

I think Edmonton is much more capable of containing and controlling any outbreak just due to population and testing abilities. Outbreak happens in GTA it would look bad on the league if they ignored it and kept going. I don’t think it makes any difference. Two western hubs I don’t see as a time zone issue they could easily work around. No reason one of them can’t operate on eastern time zone.

True, but that doesn't change the question: which city will be selected? Put in your vote... selection could be announced today.

BTW, Edmonton has near zero active COVID cases, so I don't see it getting shut down unless the players / media bring COVID with them.

The scuttlebutt this week is that the league / NHLPA are re-thinking the Vegas proposal and are now leaning towards going with Toronto AND Edmonton.

So maybe we'll all be right!

With Edmonton and Toronto being chosen as the two NHL Hub cities, the question most often asked now is, which of the two will play host to the Stanley Cup final and Conference finals?

The answer, apparently, is Edmonton.

4m
I’m guessing the rationale for that decision is simply based on public health/safety/numbers. Whatever the reason(s), Edmonton it will be.

Still needs to be ratified by the players, but it looks like the final proposal will be both Toronto and Edmonton. So we're all winners! Of course, seeing as the SCF will be in Edmonton, maybe those 6 voters are more right than those that voted for Toronto?
