Top 10 scorers ppg differences from the teams 2nd highest scorer

Created by: Sabres923
Team: 2019-20 Custom Team
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 26, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
For Mcdavid and Marchand I took the 3rd highest scorer.

Top 10 scorers PPG differences from the 2nd biggest scorer on that team.

10 Eichel 1.14 PPG.
Reinhart 0.72 PPG.

9 Matthews 1.14 PPG.
Marner 1.13 PPG.

8 Kane 1.2 PPG
Towes 0.85 PPG.

7 Kucherov 1.25 PPG
Stamkos. 1.15 PPG.

6 Marchand 1.24 PPG.
Bergeron. 0.91 PPG.

5 Mackinnon 1.34 PPG.
Makar. 0.87 PPG.

4 Panarin 1.37 PPG.
Zibanejad 1.31 PPG

3 Pastrnak 1.35 PPG.
Marchand 1.24 PPG.

2 Mcdavid 1.51 PPG.
Nugget Hopkins 0.93 PPG.

1 Draisaitl 1.54 PPG.
Mcdavid 1.51 PPG.

AVS fans like to bring up how Mackinnon had the highest scoring difference in the league, but they ignore PPG. I’m not denying that he didn’t have a great season, but he got help when they returned. This really shows how much Eichel did this year and another reason why he should win the hart trophy.

Right but he has another reliable scorers.Buffalo only has 4 forwards that could realistically score.

The Hart Memorial Trophy, originally known as the Hart Trophy, is awarded annually to the "player judged most valuable to his team"
Last time I checked Edmonton has the best player in the world. Alongside of Draisaitil.

Draisaitl should win. He was a bigger part of his team's offense than any player since Jaromir Jagr ~20 years ago.

IMO it should go to Panarin, but it'll go to Draisaitl because the NHL is always biased to point totals. Same goes with the Norris, Josi is going to be robbed.

Or you can include the ones you thought existed here. Because thats part of creating a valid argument is laying out your facts, not making people look them up

a few points I would like to make....

1) just because Mcdavid and Draisaitl both score a ton of points doesn't diminish their individual success . To be clear Oilers don't make the playoffs without either player. they both massively impact the success of this team. Oiler and Leafs had similar records now please tell me what team on paper is better? rhetorical yeah if Draisaitl wins its bc he was the best player this season by a mile excluding Mcdavid)

2) Mack is on a stacked team... more than Draisaitl . look at his winger depth compared to the Oilers. Panarin had an amazing season but they more than likely don't make the playoffs and considering the goal is to make playoffs and win the cup it hardly matters how important his contributions are. obviously they made it with a pandemic but normal circumstances they probably don't. Eichel lmfao his team didn't make it with 24 teams making it he had a great year but his team improved and the results are all the same. hes not the MVP. again bc his value to the team doesn t matter since they aren't competing for a cup...

3) THE MAIN GOAL IN HOCKEY IS TO WIN A CUP. IF YOUR TEAM DOESNT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS YOU SHOULDNT WIN THE MVP. THAT DOESNT MEAN YOU ARENT GOOD/ ONE OF OR THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NHL BUT TO BE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER YOU NEED TO ATLEAST BE ABLE TO WIN THE PRIZE...… GREAT EXAMPLE IS THAT THE CONN DOESNT GO TO THE BEST PLAYER IN THE PLAYOFFS IT GOES TO THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER ON THE WINNING TEAM (normally atleast a finals team player)

Yes, the .04 different between Drai and Mcdavid shows they are neither more valueable than eachother to the oilers. Mackinnon and Eichel are CLEARLY needed for their team to be successful

I know that lol. I have said that. I dont think Drai is bad, its just based on the objective of the Hart "Most valuable player to his team", if a player is equally as valuable as another player, neither is "most valuable"

Hey didn’t Malkin win a heart trophy? (Absolutely he did)
And would you consider Malkin the best player on that penguin’s team (Absolutely nobody wouldn’t)

Hmmm... math’s not adding up

Draisaitl was the Most valuable player for Edmonton this year, wether McDavid was there or not is irrelevant. Just because we have two players who are more important to our team than the best players on most other teams are to them, doesn’t mean one of them can’t win the hart trophy. Why is that so hard?

I'm not sure how looking at just 2 players on each team gives you much of a picture of any player's contribution to their team. A better way to look at is how the player's contribution compares to his team as a whole. This is each player's points divided into his teams total offense, to give an accurate perspective of how much the team depended on the player for offensive success.

Draisaitl: 49.33%
Pastrnak: 41.85%
Panarin: 40.77%
Eichel: 40.41%
MacKinnon: 39.41%

"player judged most valuable to his team"

And yes, not since Jagr won the Hart in 1999 has any player even approached 50%.

I don't disagree. but again hes more valuable than/ played better than McDavid this yeah. I believe McDavid got hurt and they are still in a playoff spot.

Most valuable to your team can be looked at this way:

Let's say Draisaitl has a value of 10, McDavid is a 9.5, Eichel is an 8 and Reinhart is a 5. Who is the most valuable to their team? Still Draisaitl even though the gap between 1-2 isn't as big as it is with the Sabres forwards. He's worth a 10 to his team while Eichel is only worth an 8.

Anyway voters don't like anyone who missed the playoffs, so Eichel is off the list.

I believe Mcdavid missed 7 games tops.

Mackinnon was missing Landeskog for 10+ and Rantenen for 30+

I like how you did that:
and it further shows how Mackinnon wins then

Drai is 9.5 / Mcdavid is 9
Pasta is 9.5 / Marchy is 8.5
Mackinnon is 9.5 / Makar is 7.5

if they are tied at 9.6, but the next best guy on the Avs is only 7.5

So Mackinnon is most valuable

An awesome way to look at it, and you certainly made it clear here.
