Yotes Trade

Description
This is an idea I had for a big trade with the Coyotes + some major defensive improvement.

Trade analysis:
Leafs get: a very good defensive d-man who has a ton of potential and is right handed. They also get a cheaper 3C who's younger, solid defensively and has put up solid point totals.

Coyotes get: A young, skilled option on D that can bring them some offence on the back end. A third line centreman with a bit more scoring who can provide some offence.
*Picks can be switched up as well a bit.

Engvall trade: Just to get some picks and make room for Cliffy.

Signings:
For the RFAs, I gave short contracts worth under $2,000,000 for each. This is because they all need another year or two to prove themselves before a massive increase in salary. Lyubushkin has a slightly higher number since I gave him two years, he's a righty and I think he could really be helpful.

For the UFAs: If Cliffy needs a bit more, I think that should be OK and that we could make room. Braun is a great two-way D-man who would be a solid partner for Rielly and is cheaper than Demelo.

Please give any feedback you have. I don't know enough about the Yotes to know if this is a bad trade.

From the looks of your draft pick selection it seems that you have a weird obsession with triangles.

Also, Colorado has no need for 4th liners, we have plenty of them already.

Honestly, Engvall trade could go anywhere. I just picked a random team since I have no clue who needs him.

I think Vinnie for Kerfoot is about even, but I think Dermott is significantly better than Lyubushkin and then picks don't really make up for it imo. I know he's a lefty but I think the Leafs are better off holding onto Dermott, or at the very least find a better offer.

honestly leafs could probs trade for Lybushkin and it shouldnt cost to much. Sure he hasnt played 20mins but his playstyle is what the leafs need for a rielly partner.

I would say Kerfoot and a 4th for Vinnie and Lybushkin should be fine. Lybushkin is good but because of the defensive depth only cracks the line up if others are injured. Shouldnt be to expensive to get him either

I see what you mean. I wouldn’t say he’s significantly better but he probably is a bit. I don’t know how important he is to the Coyotes, but he’s definitely a good player and the way he shoots is a big thing. I think the picks could probably be higher but I don’t know if they’d be willing to give another player.

That's a better deal for sure. Lyubushkin would be a good fit for the Leafs, don't get me wrong. My only reservation would be on Arizona's part. They'll likely have to shed cap space this offseason, which could result in a guy like Goligoski or Demers getting traded. On top of that, he's one of their few righties. Like I said, I don't think he holds a ton of value on his own but I think next season especially he'll be valuable to Arizona.

they could flip kerfoot for someone else, like what montreal did to buffalo with Scandella, basically trade him for picks or a depth defenseman

i'd take him for just the 7th. i'm not doing the leafs and favors. 6'5" 220 with a little bit of a scoring touch.
