There’s zero chance this wasn’t planned

The NHL needs the TV revenue so they’re milking the lotto for all they can get. Plus it drums up interest for the league. I don’t mind it in the slightest either. Besides, both of my teams still have a shot at Laf lol

Rangers or Habs are winning this aren’t they.

I’m going with Florida. Their odds won’t be bad if they lose in the play-ins and if I’m going full tinfoil hat, the NHL will give them #1 to help make up for all the money they’re losing. They already have a hard time with money, I imagine the pandemic is making that even worse.

Oh **** off, so tired of every uneducated rube calling a potential statistical divergence, regardless of how small, as "planned," or a "setup." when it happens. Just because those of you who don't understand this didn't take sufficient math classes to get it, doesn't mean a divergence is a setup. It isn't. Take your Qanon hat off and logoff the internet for a day.

Nope. Usually I’d agree with you, looking at something different and yelling “conspiracy” is often shortsighted. That said, this makes waaaaay too much sense. You’re telling me they couldn’t have waited another six weeks to do the lottery when we’d know who all 15 teams are? Or do the lottery with the 7 teams that missed and call it a day? This way, they can hold two of these, make some extra cash, build up interest for the league with something completely unprecedented and keep new/casual fans hooked. The NHL has had so much bad press this year, from Don Cherry thing, to the Peters fiasco that something like this is a fun change of pace.

I know I’m pulling this out of my behind, but I genuinely think there’s more going on here. And that’s not a bad thing (unless you’re a Red Wings fan lol).

"I know I'm making this up, but there is more going on here" is such a red state take... But at least you ended it with a dig at detroit, so we're good.

No I don’t see that at all. They are likely to lose Haula, Hoffman, and Dadonov in the offseason with an aging an core it’s just counter intuitive for the league. They will give it to a big market team considering all that goes with that.
