Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade 1: NJD gets a Swiss winger to play with countrymen Hischier. They have the Cap space, are still rebuilding and his contract is expiring after this year.

Trade 2: Trade happens after Loui’s bonus for next year is paid. Which would mean he’s only owed a total of $5M after that. Vancouver retains 25% salary which means CBJ only has to pay $3.75M total for both years. Vancouver in return gets Dubinsky who can be put on LTIR to gain cap space for the Canucks. Van also gives up the 2nd round pick for taking the extra year of Loui’s deal.

Trade 3: Edmonton saves $1M in cap and gets a solid bottom 6 forward and a 4th round pick to compensate the extra year on his deal.

Trade 4: Stetcher probably gets $3.5M, Virtanen probably around $3M. Whereas Cernak signs for close to $4.5-5M imo. They can rid themselves of Palats contract and save roughly +$3M. Tampa realistically they win by adding Virtanen over Palat but lose on the Stetcher for Cernak. Cap savings imo makes the deal worth it.

I think it makes more sense for Beagle since you’d be getting rid of the extra year from Vancouver's POV

Baertschi is at best a 6th/7th rounder.
* He's 27 (no upside anymore in his game sorry) and if he's lucky he'll be 28 when he plays his next NHL game (he's not that lucky).
** His next hawkey destination given the flat NHL Cap and his 6-games last year is in the KHL...

Dubi for Loui may work actually - similar deals but change of scenery?
Deal breakers:
* Loui has NTC and CBJ is iffy hometown for him.
** CBJ has some Cap-space but a lot of RFAs to sign including core PLD!!

Give AG a little less so you can call up the ELC to fill the 23rd roster spot.
* VAN must have 23 roster spots filled given their ugly travel/game schedule from being at the edge of the league geographically.

Good points, agree with all them.

Columbus declines easily. Not near enough for us to take Eriksson. Dubinsky is LTIR and doesn’t effect the cap, Eriksson’s contract is longer and all goes on the cap....

Easily declines? Should be some consideration, sure he isn’t what he used to be but at $4.5M cap hit and and a 2nd round pick. Can prob still put up 30 points when he isn’t buried in a 4th line/scratched role in Vancouver

He’d be in the AHL for Columbus.... we need a center vs a wing and 0 cap hit is far better then a 4.5 cap hit. As I said easy decline from Columbus.

There is some consideration, but not much. We don't have room for him to play either; we've got too many wingers as is. So he'd be no better off here. Accordingly, we're better off taking on that LTIR benefit ourselves.
