I think he was staying in boston no matter where Detroit ended up

Torn...I don’t want to lose Krug but I don’t want the Bs to overpay. I am just in the opinion that Krug would have signed already if he were going to take a bit of a discount. I’m in the minority but I think Krug knows he can rake a big contract in.

He can def cash in 110%, happens every year too.
Odd year tho, UFAs don't need to sign like normal, so the "time-extension" is something DS is milking if you ask me.

Idk, losing the #1OA could make the Wings even more desperate to land a big name in order to get fans excited. For all the times Sweeney wins these long negotiations with his own guys, he bound to lose one....could this be time? We'll find out

At this point my thought is if he's willing to stay on at a team friendly deal then great. I wouldn't go much over $6.5 mil though as I think Grz or McAvoy could fill the void and the small sample size/advanced numbers seem to support that. Would the PP take a hit? Sure, but not significant enough to pay big money to keep Krug.

And stay below '7' has to be the goal in flat Cap world to keep some room for TDL, and w/ Grz, DeBrusk and Bjork needing deals.

Krug has decide to let's say 1m or so per year less in Boston or play in Detroit. Seven years with the Wings, and unlikely to even be sniffing the playoffs for three years, maybe the "happiness" level is best in Boston, a perennial contender. People is all walks of life, take less money if the don't want to move, get promoted or change shifts.

I have never really been the biggest fan of krug, i feel they escalated his contract really quick. that being said i could see a short term deal going through where he isnt the happiest but he has the chance to cash in when the cap goes back up vs now when its stagnant.
