They shouldn’t sign Hall. How are they going to resign guys like Gallagher, Danault and Suzuki. (And that’s considering the possibility of both Lafreniere and Kotkaniemi turning into good players)

Well they don't resign Danault or Petry and bring up Poehling and Weber retires in 1-3 years. Plus there is always fringe moves Lehky, Weal, Byron, Mete, Kulak and Armia

Agree that Colorado says no. I would take Timmins off your wish list. I think Sakic views him as more or less off the table in any discussions. A team would have to severely overpay to get him.

Not sure the Habs would take just picks back for Drouin we have a ton of picks already. I think they would want a pretty significant prospect in return and seeing as RHD will be the biggest hole in let's say 3 years that is what we should get back

Helleson in doesn't have enough of a ceiling to justify the trade from a Habs point of view

Drouin to COL isn’t happening, unless MTL wants to take a collection of non first round picks and secondary prospects.

This.

If the ask for Drouin is more than like 2nd + 3rd (or equivalent prospects) Avs are better off going for someone like Killorn at that price.

Drouin might be worth more than that in a nutshell, but he's also coming off a bad season and is overpaid for what he brings, and capspace is at a premium with a flat cap.

If Montreal add Lafreniere then I think Domi would be made available to try to get a top 4 LHD. In which case a Domi/Graves swap makes sense.

Do you even follow the Habs this season was not "bad" he was inured for almost the entire season! Not the same thing. I don't mind if you want to pass on a Drouin trade as long as it has merit but to say he is overrated or Habs fans value him too much is not an argument cause every teams fan base values their players more then any other teams players. If he truly had a bad year or was not a skilled top 6 player then you pass but to just say he is overrated that's your opinion and not that of ANY GM in the NHL. Drouin is a top 6 forward on almost any team, and IF he plays the rest of his career like he did at the start of this season he will be an Elite player. What GM wouldn't want that.

What I meant by "bad season" is that he wasn't fit enough to play 30 games. Coming off an injury-riddled season definitely lowers his value some.

Drouin doesn't bring much else to the team outside of scoring, and his career high is only 53 points. I could think of many better ways to spend $5.5m capspace - especially if I have to pay assets to acquire said player/contract.
