If they're trading down it's to get a defenceman like Drysdale - probably trade with Detroit for 4OA

Something like 1OA (Laf) for 4OA (Drysdale) + Veleno/McIsaac/Cholowski

More like 1OA for 4OA and Seider if not more. Laf would be the 2nd best forward on the Leafs (eventually) which is saying a lot, gives them the freedom to trade Marner or Nylander and not really sacrifice their top 6 strength while having an elite player on an ELC for 3 years in a league where the cap isn't moving for awhile

The NHL can get ****ed if TOR wins 1OA. In any event, even if they did, no way TOR does this deal.

While the trade is terrible and infers the Leafs don't make the playoffs i think it certainly raises the question of how can the Leafs, knowing they have all the offense they need, use the first to get the right package to win the cup? As good as Lafreniere is, he is not the guy who wins you the cup.
