I guess it would be nice if Boston just happened to forget to match the offer sheet in time and Bear had a stroke and accidentally signed that deal

why would debrusk accept that offersheet
Starett had a below 900 season in the AHL, he isn't close to the NHL
Bear doesn't accept that deal
