Someone asked him on Ask 31 and he smiled and said no comment, doesn't necessarily mean anything but I bet he'd do it if it was the 1OA + something

I hope not. Ive seen some Sens fans who said theyd do it. Its a horrible trade imo. Byfield/Stutzle and Raymond/Drysdale combined are worth way more than Laf and a replacement player

The only one i would do is 3 + Isles 1st (could be 13-15) and take back a guy like Lucic/Eriksson/Neal

I don't see them make a trade like that. Byfield/Stutzle and Raymond/Rossi/Holtz are way more valuable for the Sens than AL. You can get two really good offensive player or a hyped prospect (Laf) like Hughes who has a lot of pressure because of that hype, which results in a player who almost certainly will disappoint

With the amount of 2nd Rd picks Ott has maybe trading 3rd OA pick plus a couple 2nd Rd picks could be done.

3rd + Isles pick and take back a cap dump (since its a contending team that could benefit from extra cap)

I mean what else is he meant to say? It was a cheeky question, but nobody was expecting a real answer. It was a jokey question, I wouldn't read anything into that.

Lafreniere will be a stud, but since he's not a centre, IMO there's no point in moving up to 1 for OTT

Only if it would cost 3 + Isles pick plus something else. Keep 5th and take Laf and Rossi

I agree completely, and I believe the organization feels the same way. Sens have a great crop of prospects who project to be 2nd liners/non elite 1st liners, but they need to add the elite talent to the top of the lineup. I'd be shocked if they traded either of those picks.

The NHL announcing the 1st pick goes to a loser team from the play in playoff round BEFORE it happens was just plain stupid. No doubt this playoff round will have teams tripping over themselves just to lose to get a chance at Laffy. Laffy will go to Arz, Flo or Car (3 teams being reported that they might have to relocate if things don't improve quickly). The "Crosby" rigged draft (remember the Pens were almost sold to be moved to another city before Bettman saved them by giving them Sid) will happen all over again.

im ok if Laf goes to Arizona, Columbus, Minny or Florida. if he goes to Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton or Pittsburgh, that would piss me off. Chicago too but theyre in the West so no biggy.

I wanna see it happen, Sens have so many good young players and while whoever the two picks end up being will be stars, Laf will be a franchise player

I think Ottawa benefits more by adding and elite 1C AND another elite forward or a top pair RD, than by adding one future superstar, even if it's someone like Lafreniere. If Lafreniere was a C it's a totally different story.

The 1st Rd of playoffs have a long history of upsets (heck last year had 6 out of 8 top seeds were knocked out) so I can easily see a Top team getting 1st pick.

5 out of 7 Canadian teams still have a chance, Leafs, Habs, Edm, Nucks and one of Flames Vs. Jets.

And realisticly the Sens still have a chance, with owning 7 picks in the first 2 Rd's, it would be easy for them to flip a trade to get the 1st pick.

Do you really think that the players of the teams in the playin round are thinking about getting the 1st overall pick?

Well like my other post said, last year 6 out of 8 1st Rd matchup had the favorite team losing.

So the 1st Rd in the NHL playoffs is the most unpredictable in all of sports (the NBA 1st Rd is so boring, rarely an upset).

Teams can use covid19 has an excuse to throw a series (with knowledge of 1st pick up for grabs the Leafs can let Matthews miss the playoffs and enter the sweepstakes without taking blame).

If we get Stutzle, Peterka could be an intriguing option later in the 1st

I like Peterka a whole lot, but there are players I like much more with that 1st. I'd be willing to wait til 33, even if it means risking him being off the board before then. I think there's a good chance he's still on the board at 33.
