I don't know why everyone is suggesting this like it's something that makes any sense for Ottawa

Sens are better of with both top 5 pick which fills 2 of their needs (1C,2C or 1C,Top2RHD) than Lafreniere. Montreal are better off with Lafreniere, an elite French Canadian prospect w/ a lot of potential. They missed out on Denis Savard in 1980 and shouldn't repeat that mistake if they win the lottery.

Fat chance Michail Sergachev ever winds up in Montreal again those days are over, One of Raymond or Drysdale will be wearing the Winged Wheel pretty much guarantee you that.

Petry is worth more then a late 1st, especially if extended.

Ottawa is just better off with multiple picks

Sergachev would probably need more in a trade but it depends on Tampas cap situation, they may have to unload a player on the cheap to stay under.

The penguins are not trading a 1st (even if it is late) for a 33+ year old defense man with most likely a high cap hit. If they wanted to keep a guy like that they would just resign Schultz, who is younger.

LOL.....the day any GM gives up a 1st OA pick on a generational talent, he's gone.
MB is on thin ice as it is. Doubt he'd put the nail in the coffin in such a manner.
Need more meat in the TBL trade - 1st rounder would most likely do it but it would have to be 2021.

Nhltraderumors is a hack website, I wouldn't put any stock into any unsourced claims they make.

Couldn't agree with you more on all accounts. I am less pessimistic about the prospects of Sergachev being moved than most, mainly due to Tampa having almost zero cap space, a murderous amount of NTC/NMC (all due to them being a no-tax state that can offer lower contracts only if their is a NTC/NMC attached) and that nobody would really be willing to waive those to leave. Many have tried to make it work on Capfriendly: I tried myself, but could not get a full roster of players under a salary cap. Something big would have to give. Of course, if you are Tyler Johnson you could just waive your agreement and head to another team. Same for everyone else with a NMC. It'll be a fun summer for them. smile
