Devils get everything they want for Zacha and only stuff they want to get rid of. Not even in the ballpark. Zacha is fine but he can't be the key piece coming back for a guy that will score 500 goals.

I think you underestimate the two firsts in one of the deepest drafts in a while but either way, what player would you trade to the jets alongside the two picks?

I understand the picks are great. But why would Wpg sell their prize player? Even if he's not their best player he's their biggest draw. Wpg isn't rebuilding so he's just not a logical target. They need more win now pieces. If I had to put together a package it would be Butcher, Nolan Foote, Zacha and the better of the two firsts. But that's because I really like Will Butcher. But I just don't think these teams are compatible.

First off I don't think the devs would part with butcher bc he is arguably their most valuable d man. The reason the jets would trade laine is that there are inside reports saying management isn't happy with his attitude even though he has shown potential. I also don't think wpg is very close to being a serious contender especially after this off-szn/season where they lost a bunch of key players like Byfuglien and trouba. I also think that wpg needs to add star potential young d men like possibly Sanderson or Schneider to replace who they lost. Idk I could be biased tho bc I'm a dev fan lol.

If this is true about Wpg then ok, but there are other teams out there with better assets to get Laine. But the important thing you said here was about Butcher. Lets say you're right. He's the best D, and the team has high hopes for him. That is why Wpg would want him. Why would you get to keep everything you want to keep and still get a top 10 goal scorer in the Nhl? I think you're right about Will and thats why you have to trade him in this deal. You have to put yourself in Cheveldayoff's shoes too. "You want Laine? We want Butcher in the package." Does Nj just say no and walk away? If every fan got their way their team would always get the player they want and not lose anyone they care about. That's just not how trades work. It has to hurt you too.

I think NJ wins but I don't see Detroit making this trade it's not enough to move back 3 spots. Since Laine came into the league only 6 players have more goals than him. Plus he is a year younger and has 100 more goals than Zacha if you had a top 3 pick maybe but this isn't all that close.

This trade would need to wait to see who wins Lafreniere. Then discussion could proceed.

i agree if either or both arizona and van lose the qualifier and ari (hall effect wins 1st pick ) NJ gets neither pick .. and has to wait til next yr on both of those 1st round picks

as far as i can see DETROIT wins this trade hands down..
mcleod bahl and switch #4 pick for # 7 pick .. yzerman would be all over this trade .. mcleod has good 3rd line potential to extremely high end depth player . bahl top 4 dman with SIZE .. and not much difference between 4th and 7th BPA
im pretty sure detroit will pull another stunner like last yr anyway and select someone no one was considering as a top 10 pick ..

as for other trades .. i think as is winnipeg comes out of this in way better shape then NJ does .. winnipeg could end up with zacha and sanderson scheinder plus a solid forward with 3 picks in this draft.
laine is replaceable imho with connor and roslovic add in zacha on a line with wheeler or even roslovic .. 2 projected top 4 d men in sanderson and scheinder and a potential top 9 forward take away laine cap hit and winnipeg is looking good..

If someone says they think Laine is replaceable by Roslovic, it means they don't like Laine and Hockey is not understood in their first language. i wouldn't put much stock in that opinion.
