Acceptable for Detroit

Created by: leaflet

Description
Redoing an idea someone posted earlier.

In all seriousness, what would it take for a 1OA vs Seider + 4OA trade to happen? Assuming the Leafs get their hands on that first.

Is this below too much, not enough?

Am I correct in assuming Seider should be ready for the NHL next year?

Seider+4th for 1st is fair. Adding Liljegren to that makes no sense.

Might be fair but I doubt Detroit makes that trade. Defense isn't good to say the least and Yzerman surprised almost everybody by selecting Seider at 6. He probably likes him a lot. I don't think GM's often trade their very 1st pick at a franchise within a year

I actually see Stevie Y trading down. He's playing the long game.

Somehow I also see him as a perfect fit for the Leafs blue line. I like his defensive play in the AHL.

What do you think of Holtz? Do you think he is taken higher?

As a Detroit fan I can agree its about fair value but there is no way Yzerman makes this trade.

Fair, well depends on how high a value you think laf is and how much you value a seider. I just cant see Steve moving the top prospect in the system

I know I am going to get harped as homer but I’m trying to think as Stevie would. I don’t think he would be willing to move seider after one year with it being his first selection. However I do have another thought. Wings would send Hronek, breggren, and there first for the 1st overall. Breggren is a left handed Swedish victor arvidson who was a 2nd round pick in 2018 who had 5 points in 7 games at world juniors (1 goal 4 assists). Toronto then holds onto its current prospects and can draft someone like rossi at number 4. I’m going to get torched for attempting to be thinking like yzerman

Seider is big and mobile and realistically no one was going to take him in the top 10, most figured he might go in the 20s or at the slip into the start of the 2nd round. So Yzerman reached to take him at 6 and he is everything Yzerman likes in a defenseman and it was his first pick as the Wings GM. He's not going to trade him for fair value.

Totally agree, I can see him moving 4th overall though. If someone out there truly covets drysdale and he gets a good retuen.

nah, he xant really afford to let another team grab Rossi. Maybe he swaps with the Ducks so they can get Drysdale (since Ottawa already grabbed a center in Stutzle/Byfield)

You're very likely correct and I couldn't blame him for that either. I just think that Yzerman thinks out of the box. He could trade down....get a TON of extra picks...and still get his goalie for the future in Askarov. He's not playing for next year...or likely in 3 years. He's playing for 5-7 years from now.

No, No, No. Wings need multiple defensemen. Sieder is one piece and Hronek is the other piece. Yzerman is in this for the long hall and he is not trading top 5, Larkin, Mantha, Bertuzzi, Hronek and Sieder. Might add Zadina also. Unless someone blows off his door and trading one of those for a guy who PROJECTS, but has never played in the NHL, would be stupid and set rebuild back.

I get bert, Mantha, Larkin, Zadina, and seider are untouchable but if you have a potential at a generational talent you can give up a guy who could be replaced. Wings have others on the right side in seider, lindstrom, and antti tuomisto. Again just saying if scouts say take this generational talent as that’s what this team lacks it’s worth it.

Recall that the trade in this post is giving Alexis F***ing Lafreniere in return.

People like laf but generational talent seems to be a bit of an overstatement. Now I'm not downplaying how good a 85 to 90 PT winger can help but he isnt mcdavid or crosby. Most people have him behind guys like McKinnon and Mathews. His comparable is more like huberdeau or rantanen.
