Let Ottawa pick Lafreniere if they want and get Stutzle/Byfield and Drysdale and trade NYI pick with Johnsson/Kerfoot/Kapanen for RHD of need (mid 1st and mid-6 forward surefire gets you a top pairing or close to top pairing Dman.

  1. 2020 1st round pick (TOR)
Lets say LA goes with Stutzle at 2nd overall (which can easily happen), Leafs trade Johnsson/Kerfoot/Kapanen with that pick since they would pick Byfield at 3 and Drysdale at 5. If LA gets Byfield at 2, Leafs trade Johnsson along that 1st and pick Stutzle at 3 and Drysdale at 5 lol

Id go with Byfield at 3 one for funsies haha

Ehhh.. I would want a Dman because if we get that pick this year back to us we wont have one the year after and Leafs are picking a Dman in the year after that so getting two elite players instead of one more elite one would be a better choice.

Ottawa would never offer this and make you better. This is a trade that the Leafs 100% win

"No comment" with a smirk on the face tells me Dorion might think otherwise. You get by far the best player in the draft. But you know that right?

Shhhh. Don't ruin it for him, he's about to announce the new arena they're building in Godric's Hollow.

I’m not even a Carolina fan and I know Pesce starts with Nylander. You know damn well this offer isn’t going to be accepted.

Ooof the overpayment that deal would be.. giant oooof.

They are getting fair value for him regardless in that trade. I personally heard talks of Kapanen+ for Pesce last year and each team scouted each other hard for year and a half. Kapanen + 1st round pick? I think Carolina takes that.

IMO it makes sense. Pesce's deal is absolutely insane. If Joey Keane can come up and play and show potential they should both make this deal.

Holy cow people are reading way too deep into that. It was a goofy question and he gave the same answer every single GM in the league would give. How is this a thing?

Carolina wanted Nylander and wouldn’t budge from it. Kapanen for Pesce was only created in your head to try and justify this crap offer. Let’s be honest it wasn’t discussed. Kapanen doesn’t get you Pesce. He’s an overrated middle six winger with some speed but has limited hockey IQ.

Its just as outlandish to dig way too much into as claiming they "SURELY" wouldnt even offer that deal. That was the point.

any player that isnt laf or byfield will probably take 2 or years to reach the nhl, a defender probably longer. I take the guy who can contribute now

Sens making that deal would be the equivalent of them pulling their own pants down and bending themselves over a barrel. Basically just asking to get absolutely railed.

Well you might think that, Kapanen + for Pesce was not created in my head but go on. HOW THE **** IS 2 1st round picks a crap offer for Dman coming off huge surgery???

Not giving up all 3 picks for Laf. He would maybe do 3 and 5 for Laf and Kapanen. But we aren’t giving up 2 elite players for 1

"self appointed" aight.. Im not claiming to be expert on all things hockey. Nor I should. I can claim that on scouting but I dont even do that out of respect to everybody else who contributes on this site since I wanna hear all the opinions. You can think Im a fool or whatever.. Im not taking that right away from ya, but to tell me that 2 1sts for Pesce coming out of huge surgery is crappy offer is peak ACGM logic and ridiculous statement to say. Have a good day.

I think Dorion is smart enough to understand that the Sens need more elite talent than just Lafreniere. They need one of those top two centres, and then they need another elite player at 5th. Even if they miss put on the best individual player in the draft, they're better off overall with two cornerstone pieces.

If there's a way for them to move up from 5 without trading 3, I'd look at that, but I doubt that's possible.

I can see 3 and 5 for 1 happening if OTT thinks they are getting the value of 3 and 5 combined with Laf pick. Ottawa should keep those picks and pick Stutzle/Byfield and Drysdale and have better core that way.

I hope he is smart about it. I can see him trading 3 and 5 for 1 IF he feels like Laf provides more value than Stutzle/Byfield and Drysdale combined which is not true so I dont think he trades the picks but he also might if he feels like it.

Laf doesn’t. He’s not on the Crosby/McDavid level. If this was the next Crosby down the middle, yes I’d give up 3 and 5

He is not even Matthews or Eichel for me personally. More like Stone/Huberdeau type of top line guy.

I don’t think the difference between Laf and Stutzle is worth more than the Isles 1st and taking back a cap dump. But it’s still the 1st overall so will cost a fortune
