Any major room for improvement? Anything massively wrong here? Any good points?

I’d suggest just burry abdelkader in the minors. Could also end up eating half of helms contract and trading for Russell in Edmonton along with pick/prospect. Russell is a stay at home D who plays the right like Daley and could be a good partner for cholo if the plan is him on the third pairing all season. This way lindstrom can go in seider’s #1 ahl role last year that will help him develop

In a draft this deep you might be better to take the 2 second rounders imo. Depends on your team's drafting philosophy I guess, but both Yzerman and DET are notorious for making good picks as the draft goes on

I actually like this idea a lot I'll probably do another DRW post in not too long I'll implement that good thinking there!

Yeah indeed. Just figured Barron would be the perfect fit for DET tho but you certainly ain't 100% wrong

I’ve been pretty vocal about the value of Demko and Eriksson but I think at least a second needs to be added from Vancouver on that deal. My rationale is that unproven goalies don’t hold a ton of value compared to skaters. It also makes more sense for possibly Ottawa to acquire it (if they need to hit the floor) since the actual dollar figures are low for the cap hit.

Justin Barron is interesting but I wouldn’t go up and grab him. I’d much more inclined to reach for Wallinder (LHD) or sit back and take one Gunler, Foerster, Robins, etc.

I’d also have Rasmussen centering the 3rd line and send Veleno back to the AHL as the 1C. Svechnikov back to the AHL also and have Tymshov (sp) and Smith would be nice 4th liners.

Out of curiosity do you worry about his potential given he already trains, eats, and is built like a pro? What does your 5-8 look like?

In all honesty, not one bit! I think Rossi is going to be a star in this league eventually and is already close* to making the jump. My prediction would be the 2021/22 year.

My 5-8 would as follows: 5) Drysdale 6) Perfetti 7) Ryamond 8) Lundell

In this draft though there are so many good players that a lot of my ranking I think would be interchangeable by a few positions and could be more based on individual team needs.

I don't think Stevie Y is going to lose picks in this deep a draft. If anything I see him trading down to gain picks. But I couldn't argue with him drafting Rossi either. He thinks out of the box. I could easily see him trading down to #10 or something like that and still drafting Askarov.

Tough to negotiate that Canucks trade, but ideally I'd like to throw in Sutter or Baertschi as well.

Why though? Both those guys expire in 21, Van can ride out their contracts for the season it's Roussel, Beagle and obviously Eriksson who are the problems for the Canucks, really need some of those guys gone sooner to make space for Hughes and Pettersson's new deals.

I agree with that, but including Roussel or Beagle may make the deal too expensive (unless Detroit considers them close to positive value). With Sutter and Baertschi it shouldn't take much at all to include them in this deal, particularly Sutter.

Okay but is cap space really a premium for the Canucks this offseason? I guess it may be to some extent but it really seems like they're going to need it much more next offseason which is why getting rid of Beagle or Roussel is more important in my opinion, maybe it won't be difficult to trade either with only a season remaining on their deals but if you could attach one to a deal like this then at least they're gone and not a concern anymore.

You're right, we can absorb Sutter and/or Baertschi for this season. Including them in this deal would be considered a bonus. That's all I'm trying to say.
