Wait would you do Ristolainen for Hanifin? Both aren’t the best. But Risto only has 2 years left at 5.4. If it doesn’t work you can let Seattle take him.

The Flames wouldn't trade Hanifin straight up for Montour or Risto IMO.

Maybe the deal isn't quite that but Johnny had 99 points last season, which is more than Taylor Hall and Mark Stone have posted. Johnny also has 2 years left on his deal which neither of those players had and is close to the same age as Buch. Goalies dont command much trade value plus Shestorkyn (sp) is on the way. The Hall and Stone trades were used as the starting point.

Sabres fan here

I think we’d do a deal for Hanifin where the main piece you get back is Montour or Risto
We have an extra RH defenseman,
and could use the lefty

I think we’d probably have to add another “ok” piece with Montour though
A pick or a decent but not great prospect would be my guess

I agree with both. Hanifin is overrated though, and Montour is underrated. A pick probably gets added by Buffalo to balance things out. Risto stinks. This is more to offload Hanifin before the book is out that he's not what his name value is. This isn't to say he's not worth Montour, but he's not that franchise cornerstone he was projected to be.

Well in that case NO THANK YOU!
😂😂😂

Another reason the Sabres could do this...
It’s no secret Eichel is frustrated with the losing here
He & Hanifin grew up together & have trained together in the off seasons before
Idk how close they are, but seems like they’re friends
And at the very least respect each other
So I’m guessing Jack would be pretty happy to bring him on

yea i get it just from an asset management point of view this isn't a really good trade for the rangers. Also we have kakko/gauthier/kravtsov that have high potential to be elite RWs

Rangers are rebuilding....they're not trading significant assets for anyone with less than 3 years of team control.

Haha, yeah because the Rangers really struggle to land or keep high profile UFAs

That's a good point as to why they wouldn't pull off this trade, They'd rather just sign Johnny in 2 years as a UFA anyway lol. Appreciate you helping to prove the point.

The Rangers have a long history of short rebuilds and acquiring players when they are available. I think they would jump at this.

I'm referring to the team and ownership in general. If they have an opportunity to hit fast forward they absolutely will. They gladly added Panarin.

yeah nah that hasn't really been the m.o. at all. They added Panarin after he specifically said he wanted to come to NY and took a discount. Rangers offer wasn't even close to their best. They don't have a ton of cap room to work with either...
