I think it will take more than this pick to acquire both of these players. I understand the logic the upside of a player at #8 in this years draft is much higher, however you are trading for two proven commodities and will cost you more as they team acquiring the pick has a greater variance on what they get out of the deal.

I’d rather just trade something like Asplund or Tage & a pick for only Henrique, then i would give up pick8 to get Rakell

Rakell for 2 years & then who knows?
Or let (for example) Holtz develop for 1 more year & then have him on Cozens’ wing sniping goals for the next decade or so

Easy choice for me

Yeah... we’d still wanna add a RW
But I’d suggest going after other cheaper options so we can keep that 8th pick

You are pretty much getting one of the best two-way playmaking wingers on the planet.

Henrique is available at the right price. I'm not sure Asplund or Tage would be that interesting though. I doubt Rakell is available unless we have a RD prospect coming back the other way.

Marner makes more than Eichel. Buffalo doesn’t have a lot of cap space. Plus getting Reinhart at 6.5-7 and getting a cheap ELC at 8th Overall, while trading their best RHD who’s only 20 isn’t a good idea in my opinion.

How about Montour? 😂😂😂

I’m assuming Henrique will be available at a discount bc of his contract
My thought was Asplund or Tage Thompson bc they’re NHL ready guys who can play on the 3rd line, Tage having a higher ceiling depending on his skating improving
And then we’d add a pick like a high 3rd, maybe even that high 2nd

Dude scored 26 goals last year
And is a pretty decent 2way player
I don’t love his contract,
but calling him “awful” is just flat out wrong

I think you’re asking too much
Especially bc we’d still be left having to fill a hole at 2C & RW2,
with now less assets to do it

You hate watching Marner & Eichel together though
That could be deadly

I mean, I think that is reasonable value. I was thinking probably a couple 2nds or equivalent value, which is exactly what Asplund/Tage + 2nd would be.

Yeah, that’s where i was coming from with that
I’m assuming Getzlaf is a Duck forever unless he asks to be moved, but do u think Anaheim is ready to start blowing it up & move Vets for younger pieces?
Seems like the chance for Getzlaf to really compete for another Cup with u guys is over

not both reinhart and jokiharju

reinhart is a 58 points per 82 guy over the past 3 years, marner is 85...is the 8th overall pick and jokiharju worth less than 27 points and thats before the money factor.

theyre getting an extra, at best, 30 points over Reinhart and giving up Reinhart, Jokiharju and a decent player at 8 to get there. They literally spin their tires backwards doing that trade.

So you wanna pay 6 mill for the next 6 years to an already 30 year old who averaged 20-22 goals/45 points in his prime which is past him for our 8th OA in an insanely deep first round especially top 10. I think you may ned to reevaluate what is "flat out wrong" in this debate.

Nope
I didn’t say i wanted to trade 8th for him... DID I ???

Actually... i literally said NONE of those statements

What i said, is that he’s not the “awful” player u say he is
Appears u have an issue with reading & comprehension,
as well as clearly getting your point across

Is the overall trade an “awful” idea?
Now that’s an argument i could make

But go back & read the comments,
and then take another minute to read again

Maybe then you’ll comprehend what’s actually been said?

It would cripple us cap wise and take away a very good young LHD with still no 2C.

Yeah, Getzlaf is on the decline now. He's still a competent top liner, but no longer elite. He's still got the hands and IQ, but has lost a step too many at this point. I don't think he's moved. We have too much respect for him to do that.

I think we'd be interested in moving Rakell in the right deal. I don't think Lindholm, Fowler or Manson are available though.

I think the main aim in adding Henrique is that he'd be a relatively cheap addition that can make an immediate impact, which is exactly what you need to keep Eichel from putting in a trade request.
