Leafs don't want to trade Matthews. Not even in the slightest. This trade makes them think long and hard though. Laf, OEL at 50% for his entire contract and Hayton... Damn. Don't think they do it still but the value is there and then some.

And yes Arizonas cap situation is messed up. See if you can make this work on their end cap wise also :P

Yotes decline though. A trade like this weakens the team way too much. Lafreniere, a top 6 center prospect and a top pairing D with 50% retained for 7 more years is too much to give up for them, even for Matthews (and a very likely bust)

I realize it’s a huge package to give up. But if they want him, I think a trade would have to be something along the lines of this.

no way Yotes would do this. Yes Matthews is an Elite talent but so Lafrenière is at an ELC for 3 years
