I don’t think Buffalo will make this deal. We have a terrible pool of prospects in the attack, and we could also use this pick in trading for the player in top 6. We still have no problems with cap and Okposo at least plays well in bottom 6.

Why would Vancouver do that? Don't really save cap space and give up a first? Easy no

I actually think Baertschi can still play. I think there are worse players than him in this league.

        Buffalo says no.

5M this year and 6M next year. 11M is not really saving cap space?

You guys will have to move Okposo this year or next year. Dahlin and Jokihariju are gonna look for huge pay raises and I can't imagine them not getting it (especially Dahlin).

The 1st is for moving Eriksson. Baertschi and Anisimov is just a 1 for 1 deal.

If you think a team is gonna take Okposo for less than that 1st you're lying to yourself.

That doesn't make any sense. We need to find help in the top 6 now or take an excellent prospect on the draft, and not trade our first to drop Okposo contract. In extreme case, we can buyout him. I would rather believe that we will trade Reinhart than Okposo. Also, we still need to have a place under the cap to extend Dahlin and Jokiharju, do not forget that we can trade Risto, Montour and Miller.

LOL. This year is done. Can't even trade for this year. Also if/when play-in and playoffs start, the cap doesn't matter.

Also, don't think math is a strong suit for you. Anisimov's contract for next year is $4.550M. Eriksson is owed $6M + Baerschi $3.36. So the max difference next year is $4.81M next year. Baerschi was in the minors so only $2.46 counts against the cap so the actual difference is $3.91M.

That's not worth a first round pick.

4.81M this next year and 6M the year after = 10.81M

Dang your math must not be very good...

Baertschi being in the minors is a good thing?

It's a similar framework to the Marleau deal.

Marleau was 6.25 and no cap relief, Carolina got a top 10 protected pick that converts if not.

Eriksson has 2 more years, so a 1st is fair.

The Leafs trade was one deal. I'm not sure there are many more that have established that market. Also the Leafs were in a cap bind and needed do that deal. Vancouver's situation isn't close.

I'll take the L on this. Still don't think Vancouver should/would do the deal.

It doesn't need to be done this offseason, but you guys have to pay Pettersson/Hughes next summer. There's going to be a cap crunch when two of your best player will cost 16+ million combined

I dont like seeing okposo in a sabres jersey. At this point, with the holes in our lineup, we simply do not have the luxury of paying anything of consequence to move him. He was a passable, although overpaid, 4th liner. Previously, i have said i would go as high as a second to move him, now i would not, that piece would be more valuable in a package to get a 2nd line center or second line rw. Also, with the number of both scary head injuries and quantity of orthopedic ones, theres a fair chance he is on ltir before that contract is up.

It will probably cost this year's 1st to move him or maybe Reinhart.

Just not sure how Buffalo will sign Dahlin and Jokihariju without moving that contract or Skinner's contract.
