The lines at the time of the stoppage were something like this:
Parise/Staal/Fiala
Greenway/Ek/Kunin
Foligno/Galch/Zucc
Donato/Koivu/Hartman

I think they'll likely go with something like that with the goal being to match Ek's line up against Petterson's line.

I like Zuccarello, but it hurts me everytime when I see his contract.

Beat me to it. Was finishing up a report before correcting Threadstarter but you were too fast for me.

Also, D Pairings for play in will probably be:

Suter - Spurgeon
Brodin - Soucy
Hunt - Dumba

Soucy and Brodin have amazing chemistry so Dumba gets shunted to 3rd pairing. Definitely has the talent to be a 1RD or a 2RD but he's not recovering from his injury as well as everyone hoped. He's better than Soucy when he's at 100% but I don't think they risk it in a best of 5 play in. To 3rd pairing he goes and revisit his position next year.

Zucc's a very good player, however, the stupid contract that he got was simply Fenton's last gasp before getting sacked. The Wild seem like they're in good hands with Guerin in now, though. I liked the return on the Zucker deal a lot, and Galch isn't a bad low-risk swing at 2/3C (his preferred position).

Agreed, I think if Guerin can't find a way to turn a dman into a center during the off-season, they'll bring Galch back on a short deal to play center.

You know what's actually kind of funny about Paul Fenton now? At the time of his moves, I hated all of them. Every. Single. Move. But now I look back on the trades...I don't hate them as much as I did. Rask/Nino is still bad but not Nino isn't exactly doing much in Carolina either and costs over a million more towards the cap. He's still the better player, but I thought Nino would explode once he got out of here. Fiala/Granlund at the time seemed idiotic...but it now looks like we won the trade somehow. Jury's still out on Donato but I don't feel like we got hosed on that deal. Coyle never reached the potential we thought he could here. And Donato does seem to be a bit of a spark plug at times when we need him to be. Could still significantly lose this deal if Donato doesn't reach his potential but I'm not losing sleep over it. And then there was the Brad Hunt trade. The sneaky good trade that nobody knows about. Brad Hunt is a 3rd pairing D whose a PP specialist. Never gonna blow you away with his skill but his shot is actually pretty good and effective. Good precision and power behind it. And all we did to get him was swap a 5th rounder for him and a 6th rounder.

Although he was an a-hole and deserved getting canned, not everything he did was bad. Definitely shouldn't be in charge of a GM position again but he does seem to notice talent. Columbus got a good man for that.

I'm a Canes fan that's watched every single game this year. Nino's been good in Carolina. He's one of those guys that is a positive impact player even when he isn't scoring, and he's been a really good fit with Jordan Staal recently. His scoring is streaky, but he's really strong on his skates and he's a huge reason why we're one of the best possession clubs in hockey.

But he's not as good as he should be. That's been the issue with Nino and Coyle. Those guys had the ability to dominate with the sniping ability and puck possession. It's just frustrating to see they can do it some games and be inconsistent in other games. What works for you guys in Carolina is that he doesn't need to be a go to scorer since Svech, Aho, Teuvo, and others already take care of that. It just sucks that both him and Coyle have another level they can go to if they want but they just can't seem to get there. He flashed it last year after the trade but he's never been able to do it for a full season. Still hope the best for Nino, really good guy who deserves to be on a great team like Carolina.

Nino's one of those guys whom you never know when he'll just get scorching hot, though. Carolina's the ideal club for guys like him, because in the regular season, he'll do everything but score for you, and then by the end of the year, he all of a sudden can become a key catalyst when you need him most. Minnesota simply lacked the top end talent for him or Coyle to be used at their full potential.

Too true. We were hoping that they would be that top potential players. When we realized they could only ever be compliment players to the top potential, we realized it was time to move on. And you're 100% right on the key catalyst part. If you ever get a chance, watch the 2014 Western conference quarterfinals game 7 against Colorado. His 3rd period/OT heroics won us that series. One of the greatest hockey games I've ever seen.

That's no reason to deal Nino for Rask, though. That's still up there with one of the most lopsided NHL trades of the last 5 years. Nino could've easily gotten a late 1st or a high 2nd with a more competent and patient management team in change. Rask had somewhat of a rebound year this season, by his standards, but our FO is still laughing to the bank to this day on overall possession/defensive metrics alone. If the Canes do win the Cup in the next couple of seasons, that deal, along with the Hamilton trade and the (IMO) nearly-as-lopsided Trocheck deal, will be one of many reasons that it happened.

Not defending what we got back. Clearly lopsided. But if we're going to move forward and try to compete here in the future, we needed to build a new core. Obviously Nino/Coyle/Granlund should've fetched better than Rask/Donato/Fiala and a Boston 4th, but at least he had the guts to do what most fans and Chuck Fletcher would never have thought to do. We were going nowhere but now we're starting to get a picture of what we need to do to be competitive again. I, for one, am excited to see where we can go with the core we're building.
