2020

Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 30, 2020
Published: Jun. 30, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
SJ gets their G in Jarry, ERod who the pens have no room for can easily slide into their bottom 6, and Riikola will get regular 3rd line duties due to the fact he can play both LD/RD

Pens get a future G in Melnichuk, True who can be a big body depth piece after this year and 2 future picks. OTT 5th this year is basically a 4th.

Think I maybe slightly undervalued our guys, but I'd rather undervalue than reach for too much. If anything, I think SJ may need to add another mid rd draft pick.

If Patty retires/doesn't come back, we can call up Lafferty/Angello/sign a depth piece for league min.

If Hainsey retires/doesn't sign, there's a lot of options for 3RD line D in UFA.

  1. Bjugstad, Nick
  2. 2020 4th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Placeholder, this can be done with any team who's willing. Moving Bjugstad frees up a decent chunk of cap space we desperately need. JJ is most likely going nowhere, and I highly doubt they trade Horny this offseason, so it has to be Jugs. Willing to package as much as a 4th to "get rid" of this contract, although I don't expect it to really cost anything.

SJ just signed Melinchuk, I really like him, he's good, but not worth Jarry, and we're not really getting much more than that, and we're giving up some decent guys in Riikola and ERod

I figured I valued Jarry too low. Would you do this same trade but upgrade the picks?

The NHL is a business, and teams "betray" guys every single year. Not saying the SHOULD do it, because I don't believe in going against your word/doing that to people, but teams do what's in their best interest 99% of the time. And if that means getting a proven starter for a prospect who's never played NA hockey, I think they do it.

I think with the squad I assembled there's really no weakness/pressing needs to address. Our D and F are set, and we have POJ/Poulin as our #1 prospects that'll be able to challenge for roster spots the following season..

It'd be nice to recoup a semi-NHL ready prospect but I admittedly don't know SJ system well enough

Nope you betray players or screw them over and players leave the franchise and it becomes impossible to sign FA or trade for people with NMC or NTC
