Oh most certainly not, Calgary needs a top pairing RD and Boychuk is long past his prime. He hasnt been a positive value asset in 2 years. Would much rather resign Hamonic and keep Bennett over trading for Boychuk
Completely understood. I'm very curious how Hamonic will do in free agency. I loved him on NYI

Flames already have a 35+ year old Dman making $6 million + against the cap., so I would hope they don't consider getting Boychuk. He's declining hard right now.
I do think it's time for Bennett to move on and I don't mind the idea in the OP, but what is the deal with Hickey? Why didn't he play in the NHL this past season, it says he's out for personal reasons?
Hickey only lost his spot because of a numbers game. The starting defense was six strong of Pelech-Pulock Toews-Mayfield Leddy-Boychuk, then the Isles felt they had no choice but to keep Noah Dobson in the NHL vs. the AHL (which was the right call). Then when Hickey got to the AHL, he got hurt, his brother got sick (eventually passed away), and because he got hurt the Isles had to trade for Andy Greene. He just had a tragic year on and off the ice. He actually was called up before the pandemic and was on the roster, but didn't find his way into a game yet. He's a very good bottom pairing defenseman.

I highly doubt it, he's 36 and making 6 million a year. Bennet for Boychuck, Pageau, a 3rd and a 4th would be the minimu because of the massive contract. Giordano is only making 750k more, but is way better. We would probably prefer Travis Hamonic who is making way less. You would need to piut a lot into the pot if your going to dump Boychucks cap on us.
For sure makes sense (obviously we're not giving away Pageau but I get the logic you have). Would you do Boychuk, Bellows, and a 2022 2nd for Bennett?
