So 2 productive and valuable players for an older prospect yet to show he has any value and a 5th?

Grabner is a cap dump. He's not productive or valuable.

Hjalmarsson is a valuable defenseman, but he's expensive...and the Coyotes have cap problems and could use the money to try and re-sign Hall. This trade clears out nearly $8.5M in cap space for the Coyotes to do just that, and all they lose is one year of a defenseman they probably couldn't afford to re-sign anyway.

To be fair, I didn't suggest Brickley as the return, but a 4th round pick and a project prospect like Brickley or Luff sounds about right.

Don't think LA is in a position to start adding yet. Getting those players only helps you get a later first round pick. Still no playoffs

There's not going to be a market to move Goligoski without Arizona taking back some salary in return. Demers is less expensive and one of the only actual righties that Arizona has playing RD. Goligoski and Hjalmarsson both play on their off-handed side.

LA isn't really adding. Blake has been very vocal about wanting to add a short-term veteran LHD with leadership experience to play big minutes on Doughty's pair and to mentor the young kids in LA. They don't need him to be an all-star, they just need him to be defensively responsible. Hjalmarsson fits that description perfectly, as the experience and term are exactly what they're looking for. They'll let him move along in 2021 when Bjornfot is ready to make the jump into the NHL.

I know the Hoffman add is out of the ordinary, but what to you think of it?

If he would agree to 4 years @ $7M I'd maybe be interested in giving it a shot. Seems like the timeline where the Kings would be able to afford that cap hit, prior to having to give raises to Turcotte, Bjornfot, Kaliyev, etc. He's 30 now though, and this is probably his last chance to get a big payday. I think he's going to look for something with a longer term, and I don't think the Kings should be handing out long-term contracts right now. 3-4 years max.

I would give the Coyotes two fifths and Matt Luff.

I think you might have to add 1 more year to Hoffman, but that's nitpicking, using the JVR 7x5 as a comparable
