I would sooner keep Nylander, I do like Klingberg but I think he's going to cost too much when his deal is up and I think TO has other defenceman who can contribute enough to make our defence good. The young guys in TO will take pressure off Rielly and Muzzin. No need to make a big change to weaken the forward core.

Interesting approach. I like the clean sheet of draft assets, but believe you've sold yourself short on at least 2 if not 3 of these deals. On the Klinger deal I see you're making room for Pietrangelo, but debatable if straight up for Nylander is worth it. Similar debate on Rads deal. Contracts on both could force both teams to add pieces to balance them for both. I like the Faksa trade. Comeau deal may be a little light, but I wouldn't be necessarily upset if it went down.

Couple other flaws you might run into - Honka won't be an option as he wants out. Hope is we can get a draft asset for him at this point. Additionally, you'd be forcing some youth into the lineup pretty quickly at fwd, which may end up being a necessity given revenue challenges, but would certainly put risk there until guys like Robertson, L'Espy (if returns), Kiviranta solidify their roles. Domingue isn't my favorite back-up option either, but understood options will be limited there.

Yeah good luck trying to extend Heiskanen next summer with a flat cap, You'll roughly have around $14 million with 13 players and Heiskanen could eat $8.5 million of that.

Pavelski has a NMC so it won't be him. You're forced to protect him. And I find it hard to believe dallas wouln't protect Esa. Petro, Heiskanen, and Esa should be the 3 D protected. Losing him just to create cap would suck. Better off protecting them and hoping Seattle take Nino.

Pavs’ NMC falls off before the expansion. Only smart thing Nill did that day. And Lindell can be traded if Harley is ready

Would be curious to know what Canes fans think of the Rads for Nino swap. I like it for both teams. Rads would do better in their system and Nino would do well in ours. Love me some Nino. I’m pretty sure Nylander costs us Klinger and Fox. Cuz term. But I like the idea either way

That's easily covered by letting Cogliano, Johns and Oleksiak walk...

See the post above.

Nothing prevents them from moving other assets such as Lindell and Niederreiter if necessary.

You will have to be giving up a major asset for Seattle to take Pavelski off your hands and if Lindell is worth losing for nothing, why would Seattle take him?

Lindell is massive value. Not sure why otherwise is being stated. Dude is a legit #3 dean and one of the top penalty killers in the league

They why would you just let him go via expansion draft? If you are hoping to shed salary through that, its going to cost you a premium.

Yeah but Lindell is one of the last players you leave exposed to “shed salary”. It’s like if the Leafs exposes Muzzin or if the Coyotes exposed chychrun. Horrible idea

I agree, a Dallas fan above had mentioned that in regards to difficulty signing Heiskanen next year.
