Do you think that package with a 2021 first instead of 8 gets it done?

No I think you probably have to swap Risto for Joker.

If the pick is 8, then I think it is. The chances the player pans out better is quite high, and the Jets short term needs are met.

Risto really helps up at defence.. would be the last piece we need
Mittel is boom or bust.. could help our 2nd biggest issue at center, still has top 6 potential could be worth a shot
The 8th overall could arguable value more value than Ehlers alone, but the risk factor really drops it.. but with Chevys draft record we r walking away with a stud

Jets say yes

Depends who is available at 8. This would only be a draft day trade right before 8th OA is selected.

Ehlers is dang good and is only at 6M per year.

If the Jets get #1, then I totally would do it as I can see the Jets sending their pick at 8 down for an extra year of growth.

tbh, I'd say Ehlers is Peg's 2nd most valuable asset after Scheif. His 2way production and solid analytics make him a preferable option to Connor/Laine, neither of whom can play much D at all. He's also on a very good contract relative to his value. Easiest way to think about it as a Sabres fan is take what you'd love to get in return for Reinhart and add like a 2nd or equivalent value.

I think this is a reasonable deal as a Jets fan. You have Vesalainen or Roslovic to replace Ehlers

There’s overpaying,
and then there’s just ridiculous

If Mitts has little value, we shouldn’t be “selling low”
That’s just a bad idea

Honestly, this trade only happens if WPG wins the #1st overall pick. Like mentioned above, ehlers is WPGs most valued asset besides scheifele. He has a great 2 way game and his analytics are through the roof. If they did get the 1st pick, this trade would be a draft day move. If Lundell is available then they should make this move. If any of Rossi/Perfetti/Lundell are available they should. If not then you’d probably have to swap ristolainen for Joki and make the 2020 1st a top 3 protected 2021 1st.

Ehlers is certainly a good player, but he doesn't cost that much. Young RD, who had a great season, #8 and Mittelstadt, who can still become a good NHL player. It's too much. Buffalo pass

We can make the playoffs without such deals, without overpaying for all players, this is not very smart.

I would trade Reinhart for 8oa and a center that would immediately help the team

Well he said take the value of what you expect for Reinhart and add a 2nd. Mittlestadt is worth more than a 2nd, so on his evaluation this would be fine. I already stated I dont think its a good trade for WPG, I was just pointing out the flaw of the argument
