Off-Season and 1st overall but Flat Cap

Created by: Mark_Kelley
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 1, 2020
Published: Jul. 1, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
For the Off-season the Hawks should trade Saad, It will have more value for the Hawks instead of waiting for the deadline. I think they should somehow convince Seabrook to retire like what they did with Hossa and then give him a job in the front office. I think they should also look for replacement for the Blackhawks coach and I think the best Candidates are Gerard Gallant or Peter Laviolette. If the Hawks do win 1st overall they should play lafreniere on the first line with Toews and Kane so they can mentor him and one day hand the torch to him and Dach

Connor Brown is far more valuable than Maatta, especially in Ottawa where LD is one of their deeper positions, and RW is their weakest.

Not a chance Ottawa or Edmonton take those trades. Way too one sided I’d have to think. The Pittsburgh is an interesting one and I do like ZAR.

Not gonna argue that one at the moment, but given Crawford’s eminent retirement in 2-3 years, when are the hawks gonna think about finding a replacement?

All teams reject your trades. If Seabrook retires, don't we still have to deal with his contract during the offseason? So with Shaw and Seabrook, we're actually around 10 mil over the cap. That's a fat cap penalty.

Do they need to find it today? I don't think so. There are too many goalies out there that need to find homes before I trade assets away for a slumping one.

The Problem is Crow is 35 and now is the time to find a replacement for him and when Matt Murray is on the Market, The Hawks need to explore all there options

But we don't need to do it July 1st 2020. There are LOTs of options for us. Lehner and Crow are both UFAs. AND I personally think Matt Murray will be a UFA this summer. His trade value is low, but his arbitration value is high. PIT probably can't keep him so who's actually going to send PIT value? MAYBE only one of the teams that don't get Crow or Lehner. So why trade anything for him?

The honest truth is...we probably can't afford Murry and he'll only be on a 1 year deal. So if we trade for him and don't agree with the arbitrator...he's going to be a UFA and we just lost Saad for literally nothing...except the $1M we retained.

I would not trade Maatta and a 2nd for Brown. Brown has had one good season that was a direct result of a ton of ice time. He would not be playing 20 minutes a night on any other team. It’s not like 43 points in 71 games is even that crazy. Look at Dzingel if you want a sample of a successful middle six player coming out of Ottawa onto a new team.

It ain't Murray who's proven highly inconsistent

Bingo thank you. No thanks to that PIT deal as such. Would much rather have Saad on this team and he likely will re-sign if Hawks agree not to expose him to the expansion draft. Otherwise, just move him at the TDL for a 1st plus a prospect.

I believe there are 2 choices for LTIR : putting them on it for the offseason, which kind of sets a hard cap of how much you can go above the cap during the regular season, so while you CAN do it, I think most teams try to avoid that, mainly for TDL purposes, and then the other one that most teams do of putting them on LTIR the 1st day of the season which gives you more flexibility.

Your not a hawks fan are you? The lines are awful and every team declines your trades, seabrook isn't retiring (unfortunatly), and we aern't firing colliton after just recently giving him the job.

Colliton has proven multiple times this year that he's not fit to be a NHL coach and since their good coaches on the market, the hawks should accept their mistake and move on. I feel if we don't fire Colliton it can hurt the development of Dach, Boqvist, Nylander, and Mitchell in future years
