Works for me. Think Pilut is more of a want since Spezza is there 4C and they loaded on the wings

Ya idk. Maybe either add Middlestadt or a 2nd. Or Toronto Prolly does that for Johnsson + 4th.

Little too much. You are getting a top 4 RHD under contract with retention and during these times especially for Toronto, it is major for them.

Ya just don’t think Colin Miller is the type of guy Toronto is after. They want like a big shutdown d to play with Rielly. Not sure if miller is that guy. I think TO is going after someone like Severson, Cernak, Demelo etc.

don’t forget spezza is 37...asplund would be a solid, cheap replacement in a year or so

Miller makes a lot of sense for the Leafs. Their offense-first system could help him get back whatever magic he had in Vegas that one year and he’s already pretty good defensively.

For Kapanen? Idk, seems a little rich. I guess the retention brings it closer. Johnsson or Kerfoot 1 for 1 seems a little more fair imo

no interest in Johnsson due to him being a LW, Sabres don't take Kerfoot because their #8 pick will be used on a 2C whether they trade it or use it.

Severson sucks defensively, have you ever taken a minute to watch a devils game? OH do you remember that goal he gave to Nylander?tears of joy

Cernak is staying put and sounds like DeMelo is too.

My point is Toronto is going after high quality, DFD.

PS, every player has dud plays.

I dont follow Buffalo much, but I don’t think any of their LWs are better than Kerfoot or Johnsson, besides maybe Skinner. CF has it as him, Kahun, Asplund and CJ Smith. Kahun plays mostly on the right side, at least he did in Chicago (where he was better than he’s been in Buffalo it Pittsburgh). Asplund probably starts on the 4th line and Smith seems more like a 13th forward, although I could be wrong, I’m not sure how he plays into Buffalo’s future.

Point is, I think the Sabres would welcome some forward depth. Even if they do end up with a 2C at 8, they won’t be in the NHL next season

a top 4 d....well he was that but its questionable after he got healthy scratched for 20 games and only ended up with 1g/11pts in 51 games

I dont see the leafs having any interest in moving Kapanen for Miller, even with retention.
like others have mentioned Johnsson could be available, and yes the sabres could use a guy that had 20g/43pts in 73 games as a rookie, even coming off a down year. They have 4 forwards that are better (Johansson needs to stay healthy and show he can get more than 30pts)

If miller can become the same guy from his vegas days than were good. Also if we get Pilut we can flip him for some picks

Spezza was on track for 40 pts playing 10 mins a night...

And we have Aburuszee, SDA, Abramov, Gauthier, and Brooks in the system.

Tampa passes. There's some value but nothing that helps Tampa now. The 1st and 2nd are fine, but Tampa isn't looking for possible guys 3 years from now in exchange for an already proven and getting better 2C. Borgen might make the team next year and Mittlestadt would be battling for a 4th line spot. Tampa is a team focused on right now and just moved 2 first round picks to bring in useful, cost effective guys. They are not interested in moving their 23 year old 2C for potential players and bottom pairing/bottom 6 at best players that don't significantly help their chances in the near future. Cirelli is also one of 5 or so players that are part of the future core in Tampa, so if Brisebois was going to move him it would need to have something that helped Tampa now and possibly be a core piece long term. Mittlestadt is not seen as that piece by most Tampa fans that I have talked with or seen comment. If Buffalo wants to trade Cozens or similar type as a base, and Tampa was actually interested in trading Cirelli, then maybe there could be a discussion. As is, these pieces, while having some value, do not fit what Tampa wants or needs if they are giving up their 2C in the deal.
