A Partial Sweep Plus 1st Overall

Created by: HatterTParty
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 1, 2020
Published: Jul. 2, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kane waives his NMC with three years of not earning a playoff spot taking its toll. Montréal isn’t much better off granted. Toews stays cuz he’s captain and just wants to retire in Chicago. Keith and seabrook cuz god knows they’ll never waive and no one really wants those contracts. Saad stays cuz there is legitimately no trade I can think of for Saad where a consensus can be made as to his value. Lastly, lafreniere, nuff said.

Fair enough. Personally I would be very happy if Dach turned out to be like getslaf. Getzlaf was a PPG player for a long time in this league and also had that physical edge and grit that is needed for playoff hockey. I think Dach is less physical that Getslaf and more skilled. Thats why I do think he's closer to Toews than Getslaf in comparison. But it's all just personal opinion

I get that distinction, and it’s a fair one. He can be somewhat looked at as a hybrid of the two. However, I still see more getzlaf than anything because (and this is just me), while he is a great defensive forward, I don’t see him winning any selke trophies anytime soon. To me that kinda lumps him in with getzlaf. However, i hate to beat this drum, but I don’t know if he’s PPG caliber. A lot of why I dislike getzlaf is because of his one dimensionality. He’s big and passes well. He has a good defensive game. But never have I ever perceived Getz as a goal scorer. Even with his big body. If Dach gets stronger on his wrist shot, that’d be a huge step forward. But as of now, being 19 and going 28 of 29 games with out a point at one time, time is obviously needed. As I said to chihawk though, I’d I’m gonna dislike the guy and his style of play, it’s only fair I don’t expect too much from him because that’d be blatantly unfair.

Caufield is 5'7" and 160lbs, which puts him closer to Cat not Gallagher who's 2 inches taller and 25lbs heavier. Caufield will get crushed on the 1st line.

I get that, I really do, but again, that doesn’t mean it’s universal and there haven’t been exceptions. Again, Marty St. Louis, Mats Naslund, Theo Fleury, Mats Zuccarrello, Henri Richard, Yvan Cournoyer. All first liners in their careers. I understand when people don’t like undersized players as first liners, but it doesn’t mean they don’t thrive on the first lines.
