It wasn't a 1 for 1. There was another piece coming to Minnesota, no one is sure what that was though.

Russo mentioned the full trade in his podcast a few weeks after the trade deadline. Koivu was involved with Parise and I believe the Islanders were giving up Ladd and Bellows and I'm almost positive their 1st round pick as well but I could be wrong about the pick.

News came out about Parise after the Isles had traded their 2020 1st for Pageau, so unlikely the 2020 1st was involved. Maybe the 2021 1st, but that's unlikely to me.

This definitely won't be 1-for-1. I don't mind giving up Bellows and a 3rd with Ladd if the Wild retain salary on Parise. But this deal was a lot more complicated than we realize.

I recall hearing this but then the islanders traded the first and Koivu didn't waive, so they were working on something different but nothing ever really came out about what the new deal was to the best of my knowledge.

I can definitely see this. Parise and Koivu would've been great for NYI, but I'm guessing after Koivu didn't waive we went with Pageau.
