CBO doesn't look likely at all.

Johnson won't waive to go from a contender to Florida.

McDonaugh won't waive to go from a contender in a sunny city to go to Montreal.

Palat won't fetch 2 2nd's given that the trade market for him will be extremely limited due to his NTC.

Carolina won't trade Trochek for futures so soon after paying a hefty price for him.

With that much retention Tatar would fetch at least one more prime asset along with a 1st.

No CBO, Johnson isn't leaving Tampa for Florida. McDonagh isn't leaving Tampa for Montreal and like the other poster said Palat isn't returning 2 2nds he has his choice of what team he wants to go to. Fat chance that said team gives up high picks for him.

that's a huge no from the penguins. They can find better use of 5+ million.
Keep your over priced winger. who hasn't scored 20 goals in forever.

You just said the same thing the other guy said. Do you actually have any knowledge of your own or do you just listen to dumb people naturally?

The only problem is that all the players you're trading have NTC, which they have to lift...

No I'm not. Saying that none of the trades are feasible isn't nitpicking, it's being blunt. If I were nitpicking it would be because i was for example being pedantic about the exact value of the picks in a trade, but that's far from what I'm doing here in writing off all these trades.

Florida, Montreal, and Penguins are all playoff teams as it stands, chances of waiving to go to another playoff team isnt low...

Tatar trade is fine, I overpaid a significant amount for retention.

Your only solid points was the CBO and the Trochek trade.

Of those 3 teams only Pittsburgh would have likely made the playoffs had we not had this messed up new format. Also, the play-in round doesn't technically count as playoffs.

As for the other points I made:

Quote:

Johnson won't waive to go from a contender to Florida.

McDonaugh won't waive to go from a contender in a sunny city to go to Montreal.

Palat won't fetch 2 2nd's given that the trade market for him will be extremely limited due to his NTC.

With that much retention Tatar would fetch at least one more prime asset along with a 1st.

Why would Johnson want to waive to leave a contending team, to go to a middling team that hasn't won a playoff round since 1996?

I also reiterate that it's hugely unlikely that McDonaugh isn't waiving so that he can move his American family to a freezing cold location in Canada. Why would he do that if he doesn't have to?

I've asked Tampa fans on their hfboard Palat page what return they expect if Palat gets moved, and most agree that a 2nd, or 2nd + minor add/prospect would be enough. Even if there's like 3 teams interested that's still not going to be enough to justify paying 2 2nd's for a player who has full control over where he goes.

I don't think Joseph or Volkov are that interesting to Montreal. That sort of package might be solid if there's no retention, but again, with $2m+ retention for a season Montreal will need to add an asset to make that $2m+ worth it for Tampa.
